New York City's bike-sharing program recently launched, sending 6,000 bright blue Citi Bikes onto the streets of Manhattan and Brooklyn. Supporters of the program say it's a great addition to New York City's existing public transportation options. At $95 a year or $9.95 a day (plus overtime fees), it's certainly an inexpensive alternative to a monthly MetroCard, which costs $112. But critics worry that riders who are inexperienced or unfamiliar with the city's layout and bike rules could pose a danger to drivers and pedestrians. Watch to find out what it's like to take out and ride a Citi Bike in the crazy streets of New York City. -
is this her first time riding a fucking bike? She looks like shes about to fall half the time.
-
what if you dont return it OR it gets stolen while in your possesion?
-
$95 for heavy slow bike you have to pedal, vs. $112 for big fast relaxing subway?

Let my people go bike share!

Julie, Your seat was way to high. Next time adjust your seat lower and I think you will find that you will have much more stable ride. You should be able to touch the ground with you feet (tiptoes) while setting on the bike seat. Good luck and be safe.

Congrats, youll be yelling at taxi's and flippin off old ladies in no time

I really think this is one of the best ideas ever. Other big cities should follow suit and I hope something like this doesn't die out like payphones have.

You can get a time extension at the kiosk for 15 minutes, and it will notify you of stations nearby with open slots. You may have to walk a couple blocks back, though.

I hope queens will have a bike share program.

what if too many bikers are going to the same bike station, and all the bike slots are full, how can they return the bikes? (just random thought, wondering).. but overall, sound like a great program, no carbon dioxide, great exercise, might be a challenge to work through the cars and foot traffic (there is a lot of them in NYC)

Great inspiring video. I was nervous riding the streets of Manhattan. I am getting the hang of it. I hope the Bronx will have a bike share.
