Don't see why pro mechanic's ( or anyone else ) would wrap to the inside as your hands twist to the outside when in the drops. As for the tops you would want to wrap towards the front wheel as your hands twist that direction. To me making a figure 8 around the levers instead of using a clamp strip puts too much tape bulk in that lever area, and certainly don't do both at the same time.

Great video. Where can I get a roll of that black finishing tape?

way better applying than "lizard skins bar tape wrap" video.
My only note is for electrical tape. When you wrap, it stretches a little bit and after time, shrinks back and left out some sticky residue. For avoiding that, you have to leave the tape to hang for minute or two. -
I always wrap the other way toward the inside as does every pro team mechanic I have ever seen, also if you do a proper figure eight at the hoods there is no need to use that stupid tab.

Excellent clear instructions

I am noticing a lot of inside vs outside wrap videos, but most of them all do some kind of criss-cross motion at the hoods, meaning that they keep the same direction throughout. To my mind, this means that you're either unwinding the tape as you grip on the tops, or in the drops. It seems like direction preference comes down to which kind of unwinding you'd sooner avoid.
Unsightly bulges aside, I've always done it like this;
- inside-to-outside on the drops
- direction change (with extra clamp tape piece) at the hoods (i.e. straight across the inside of the lever and then over the bars and out)
- front-to-back on the tops
This keeps the tape in the 'tightening' direction at all times, although admittedly some levers make it an absolute nightmare to avoid gaps at the clamp. -
Most excellent! Well done!

Outstanding video guys! Thanks from Texas!

Interesting you say wrap outside. A lot of videos on here, even from GCN shows them wrapping inwards. Seems like the only difference would be when you get to the shifters depending which way you wrap...I think

Thank you! Just did my first wrap. Came out ok but I'll get better at it thanks to this video.

thanks, nice job! :-)

Thanks, Perfect. Greets from Holland

FINALLY! A how-to on wrapping SRAM levers. I can vouch for that unsightly and uncomfortable bulge thing because I wrapped them like a Shimano lever. Thanks!
-
Thanks for the tutorial. I think this is the best done I've seen. Appreciate the time you took to make it.
-
So why then do the pro videos on here wrap to the inside then?
-
you say you should always wrap towards the outside whys that?
-
just got best results; probably done 7+ over the years but this is the neatest;
-
Looks easier than I thought. Can't wait to try my new setup.

Perfect tutorial! Unlike so many others, you explained what the extra little length of wrap was for (covering under the brake/shifter).
