Have you heard or what is your opening on the Priority bikes? They have a new model called continuum that looks pretty good for a commuter bike.

Good promotion video. I must say that the type of bike depends on your preference. The Dutch have developed the city bike: straight up, sturdy, corrosive resistance, very simpel design so very little maintenance a breakdown and cheap to buy. The only downsides are the weight and the lack of gears with the basic models. Of course the more expensive have gears, up to 8 gears.

Sage advice from a long time veteran of cycling.

At least half of what he's saying is pure opinion.

you get death threats, you get abuse, you get almost killed, you get a sore arse, you look ridiculous in lycra after 35 years of age, some fuck will steal your bike.

I would recommend carrying a poncho or other rain gear just in case it rains. Your sweat may make you wet - but you won't be soaked! ... Don't forget the lights - you want to be bright ... and add a helmet too!

What is the bike in the thumbnail please sir? and i thought it said if you want a bicycle every day, so am a little disappointed, but great video otherwise!

I live in San Francisco (a city notorious for its hills) and I ride a fixed gear about 24 miles every day to school or work, I don't really feel like gears are necessary for city commuting or shorter rides but for a longer commute I'd get a 10 speed road bike

Ok, hang on one second- there is the S-A-F-E-T-Y issue that you didn't address. For those of us unfortunate enough to live in red states, the dangers of being seriously injured are 10 fold. Bright lights, safety gear, and hyper-vigilance are a must.
I was clipped once by a big pickup and it really sobered me up, the dangers are real.
There's a legion of people out there who simply don't give a damn about anything but the 4 inch screen in front of their distracted faces.
This being said, I love bicycling and this video was near spot on. Safe travels! -

#1, I use a single speed and I live in Colorado, #2 backpacks are fine, #3 fenders on one bike, none on my others, #4 3 gears are fine. #5 wide tires are good, but not absolute especially if your commute is over 5 miles, #6 seat doesn't matter (unless it does to you), #7 upright bikes are best, for commutes under 5 miles. #8 if you can afford it, electric bikes work great as well.
