Is A 600cc Motorcycle Enough or Do You Need a Liter Bike?

This is a video response to YummiR6's vlog about liter bikes and my take on whether or not a 600cc motorcycle is enough for a rider. Are liter bikes and hypersport bikes even necessary? Be careful about riding with friends that push you to ride too fast. Not necessary and will lead to danger

I ride a Grom 125, sure I don't get no respect, but I get the Love :D

If someone is buying a hyabusa or zx14 to cruise down the highway or just for a big horsepower experience (or to use then properly at v-max runway events) then I think that's fine. I also think that liter sportsbike bikes are fine if you have genuinely mastered a 600/750 and are going to use it. Obviously anyone can ride what they want but I don't get excited by the idea of period l people going to a zx10r or R1 because they want to go faster when they aren't really able to push the 600 they should be riding to 90%+. If you want to ride one because you like the power and it's an easier road ride because you don't have to work as hard physically or mentally keeping optimal RPM/gear, braking and cornering that's fine too. I just don't like people who buy one and think they're the world's biggest bad ass because they're on a liter bike and did 280km/h in a straight line once. If you can really ride the hell out of a big bike then you are the world's biggest bad ass and worthy of real respect, I just don't like the unearned sense of pride that so many people seem to get free with their 1k purchase. A guy riding a ninja 300, hitting every baking point, getting every entry point and apex nailed and great throttle control is a much better rider to me than the guy on the 1k blasting past him thinking he's the better rider because he's faster even though he's making mistakes and just using the throttle to cover them up.
Unfortunately 1 rider in 5 of a 1k is making even halfway decent use of the bike. If you want to ride one and you have the skill then more power to you. If you don't have the skill yet but are working on it or don't plan to ever push it but have a humble attitude then I'm behind you as well.
Having said that I really wish nor Japanese manufacturers made a bike between the 600 and 1000. The 750 is the prefect sportsbike for the road for an intermediate-advanced rider. If they made a Yamaha R8 or Honda cbr700r and there was some real competition in that space I think it would be great for riders. How many track days are most people going to a year? A couple, if any? Could anyone really actually use a 1k properly on the road? Just saying, they aren't obsolete and they shouldn't bed banned but they should be selling 8 600's for every 1k, but they aren't. -
Good vid

Haha your English attempt! Great vid man :)

That's cool that you guys can make your point without bashing the other camp. Good on you for respecting anyone on 2 wheels. We've got friends already that are giving us crap because we're not planning to buy a certain brand of bike. There's an unfortunate eliteism out there with brands. Here we were excited to ride with these guys and now they're saying maybe not because we're not riding their brand..lol.

Nothing against the 1000+ bikes some people need that extra power especially those bigger folks I ride an sv650 now probly stay in that range always but might go to a 750 that's the highest cc I think I can handle plus I don't feel that more is necessary do what's comfortable not what everybody else thinks is cool or better
-
You are correct.. he did say "for the street". Thank you for the correction.
-
He never said they shouldn't be made, he just said they should be for the track only.

Great video D! As usual you make very intelligent points my friend! : )

Ride what you are most comfortable with My preference is cruisers

I started on a 600cc back in 2002 i owned it for 2yrs sold it. 600cc r great smaller more nimble but didnt fit me well im a bigger guy i bought a 2004 honda cbr1000rr in 2005 as a 04 left over. I love thr bike fits me perfect. Handles great has the power i like and still can flick it around corners. My buddy has a 6 he get away from me in the twisties but all in all love my liter bike. I have over 25k miles on it now.

i would have to agree i rode a 600 and it didnt feel that fast and i ride a 250...i want the gsxr 750 cause its a tad faster and is comfortable to me but i might eventually get a 1000. But speed isnt everything because i also like to use most of the engine power while i ride and use the revs and not have such a reserve of power with a liter bike. who knows though im yet to ride a liter bike so i may hate it or love it

Great video brother! I am with you, I have the same opinion about these bikes. I have 04 cbr 600f and that's enough power to take down almost any 4 wheels. Doesn't matter what cc you ride, just have to be careful, respect the power and stay within your ability and skills
-
Indeed. Con artists the lot of them.....most of the time.
-
...don't forget the insurance...(I'm 'old' and still get ass raped on mine)

Another great video, sir! I have been watching these vlogs for a while now, as well as bike reviews and such. I had a CBR600 some time back. Have been going back-n-forth whether to stay @ 600 or move to litre. Like you stated around 2:38-ish? To get the power of a 600, you have to tach it out. I went w/a 2013 R1. That cross plane engine...is effing amazing. I'll never reach the true potential of the bike...but personally glad I did move up in size.
