Kona Bikes: Discovering Amsterdam By Bike
bicycles reviews | bicycles videos | bicycles online
Just talking to beautiful, gas-free people in a country where a third of all journeys are made by bicycle is refreshing to say the least. We chatted with railway conductors, hot babes, men in suits, businesswomen, more hot babes and found that there was one resounding thread that spun through everyone's daily lives: Bikes. Bikes are a way of lfe over there across the pond. See for yourself. www.konaworld.tv and www.konaworld.com

China used to be the kingdom of bicycle, but now China is trying to imitate USA, and Netherlands took over the title...

i'm from the netherlands (amsterdam=Capital of the netherlands) and it's true i ride my bike every day to school,to sports.to go to my friends.todo grocery for my mom or dad when it rains, snow and even when it's very windy and to be honest you're kind of an idiot if you don't have a bike here. from the netherlands

@byDeuce Yeah, it is because people do not live in fear and have proper, dignified cycling infrastructure compare to the sad state of the USA.

I'm going to Munich, Germany and can't wait to ride, albeit it may not be as popular as in the Netherlands but still. Here in Australia, it's illegal to ride without a helmet. This is reason enough for me to not bother riding, that and the fact that the city really isn't set out to be a bike-friendly place, busy cities, freeways and traffic lights are everywhere. I think what makes it safer in Amsterdam is that the society accepts bike-riding and so it is easier.

I wish it was the same here...but the problem is the roads here are too damn steep......

the line about passing bikes down from generation tot generation is hilarious, in Amsterdam bikes get stolen every six months or so -just don't bond and buy a new one for 20€ -

I just got back from Amsterdam, it's a bit tricky at first to get used to the fact that half the sidewalk is a bike lane. Notice all the bikes have bells, it becomes part of the city's background noise and is much nicer than car horns. It's a great town for walking also as everything is within just a few miles of everything else. And they have a wonderful tram, bus & train system too.

imack624 and byDeuce, Guys you need to understand that the reason The Netherlands has so many cyclists is because they don't have to wear helmets! If you are cruising slowly on a city bike, do you really think people just fall off their bike? It's like saying everyone who jogs should be wearing a helmet. Travel to Holland grab a bike and I guarantee you your views on helmets will change forever.
