Thugs on scrambler bikes smash the wing mirror of a police car and shower it with dirt while officers seem powerless to stop them *** Scrambler bike riders have been caught on video taunting and goading police - who seem powerless to do anything about it. In the footage, filmed in Huyton, Liverpool, riders can be seen kicking a police car and hurling abuse at an officer while several other police cars are parked nearby. One police vehicle is shown with its wing mirror smashed and is covered in dirt kicked up by the bikers skidding next to the vehicle. A convoy of about 30 scrambler bike riders turned out on Monday for the funeral of Frankie Murphy, 13, who was killed in a traffic accident while riding his bicycle. At his funeral at St Aloysius Church his dad Garry called for the group not to cause trouble. But when hundreds of Frankie's family and loved ones entered the church to pay their respects to the youngster, trouble flared between police and bikers. Assistant Chief Constable Ian Critchley said: 'We recognise that this is an extremely difficult time for the family of Huyton, Liverpool, riders. There was a heavy police presence outside Springwood Cemetery yesterday, where Frankie's cremation was due to take place. This was intended to stop the riders coming to the crematorium, at the request of the family, while they paid their respects. Following the attack on the police vehicle, scrambler bike convoys were spotted in three locations in Liverpool, one involving 30 vehicles. Merseyside Police have recently been engaged in a crackdown on scrambler bikes in the city. | Daily Mail
