Warranty does not cover labor or freight chargesOnce I inspect the frame in person I can find you a comparable frame and get it sent out to you. Thanks,Larry at bikes direct -
I purchased the bike with no problems and it has served me well lo these 7 years. As I was cleaning it today, I noticed this crack in the right chainstay just behind the chain rings. I e-mailed Bikes Direct today and I will keep you abreast on the warranty claim. I have been riding road bikes since the 70's. This bike was never abused nor wrecked. I am an old school Schwinn Factory trained mechanic that worked in bike shops in the 70's. My Cannondale bike rack proves my age.

Thanks for your review. I just ordered one 01 Jul 2016, was worried about the 53cm size but you are the same height as me so... I will say I ordered cause of you. I will start a video when I get mine (01AUG2016-22AUG2016). Mine cam with SRAM Red Etap and 25mm tires, my size was gone with the Dura Ace. I paid $3199 USD for mine. I will do more when it comes in, I am pre-ordering new tires cause the ones it comes with have less than great reviews. I do not like the thought of being stranded. I will say I am by no means an expert rider, just want a decent kit for my start in road biking.

How is the Ti bike riding to this day?

Does anyone know the difference between the two of these models on the website?(excluding components) I noted the non "SL" model has a different (larger) down tube....?

It's 3.0Al 2.5V, the Aluminium and Vanadium percentage in the alloy.

What was that website again?

I have the earlier 10 speed with mostly Ultegra drivetrain. I bought it used, so I save a ton of money. If memory serves me it weighs in at around 22lbs with pedals. My Tarmac is lighter and faster, but I train on the Motobecane and use it as a commuter. Nice touch removing the decals. I'll have to do that to mine.

I'm 5'9" and I have a 64cm

I also bought this frameset last year from bikesdirect and built it up myself with an Ultegra group I had from a previous bike. Like you, I'm 5'10" and got the 53. Potential buyers note: the frame has very strange sizing: the 53 has a 55cm effective top tube and is generally very large for something sized as a 53. Make sure you know what you need before buying. I've put over 7K miles on it to date, here's a small review. This frame has fairly aggressive geometry with a short head tube, 73 parallel angles, short chainstays and very little fork offset. This is essentially race bike geometry and as a result the bike handles like a race bike. It's not super stiff like other carbon race bikes I've owned but infinitely more comfortable on rough roads. I wouldn't say this frame is the best selection for a crit race bike, but it's hard to beat as a club ride / endurance riding frame. This is a well made frame featuring butted 3/2.5 tubes, nice welds, Breezer-style rear dropouts, bolstered cage mounts, external cabling and a threaded bottom bracket. These practical features are great for a home mechanic: everything is tried-and-true and bulletproof. I use 23MM tires on it. 25MM tires might fit depending on the brand but there's no way 28MM tires will fit. Overall, I'm very happy with the frame. A friend has a very similar Seven Axiom SL that costs over three times as much and I have no idea what he's getting for that money.

Thanks for the review! Do you think I could switch the chainrings for a compact setting (34-50T)? Or is the front derailleur at a fixed position?
-
So in terms of compliance, you'd still compare it above your Bianchi? I'm 50 and want a softer but still fast bike to comfortably do centuries on. This package almost seem too good to be true so please excuse the extra questions.

I'm looking to purchase this bike as well, how is it holding up for you- still satisfied?
Any updates??
