Make sure you clean and re-grease your chain and get it fully serviced every 6 months (brakes bled etc) The level you've got (Shimano Deore 30 speed) for what you need, is enough - so you won't need to upgrade it at all, just look after it and it'll serve you well. I used to work for a bike shop :)

That seat will destroy your junk, you better change that shit quick, I have been riding for years, I know my bikes. Unless of course you want to stand constantly on your pedals.
