As a guy that had absolutely no experience with streetbikes when I first started, I feel like I still picked my cbr600rr as a great first bike I had a wide range torque band to get to know and learned how the bike drove. it's just all on how you approach the bike. If you respect the bike it will treat you right on your first ride. If you approach the bike with I got a big dick mentality, more often then not it's gonna throw your ass to the grown

Its harder to develop your skills as a rider on Crotch rockets If your stubborn and still want a rocket lol. Buy one. Make sure you no how to emergency brake before you starting pinning it! Most people are afraid to push the limits because they dont want to dump them... and it totally makes sense. Its expensive to crash. I recommend starting on an enduro or supermoto. feeling the wheel slipping sensation builds your skills incredibly and wheelies for days! You will learn the restrictions of your tires very quickly on a supermoto. plus when you dump your supermoto you pick it up and keep riding at little to no costs. I have rode many Rockets, there fun and beautiful, but I find them limited on the street. Supermotos have 3/4 less power but are 3/4 more fun + there is no better feeling then dusting rockets on the track! KTM ftw. There is all ways next year to by a tupperware torpedo! not saying enduros are better. You cant argue about taste! safe riding peeps!

and here I am on my 110cc Chinese made pit bike
-
i started on a GROM <3
-
alot of guy I have talked to say start on a liter bike

As my first motorcycle I bought a used Kawasaki Z750. It's a naked 750cc bike with approx. 105hp. So far so good. I'm 26 yo and I have just recently gotten my A3 motorcycle licence (A3=no power or displacement restrictions, in Italy).
My first choice was a Yamaha MT/FZ-07 but I've gotten a better deal on Z750. -
I started on a 50cc in the desert when I was 6. That's the way to go :)
-
I'm nearly 100kg so a 300 or a 250 is gutless with my thick ass on it

Fz7, sv650, fz6r, and the ninja 650, are awesome first bikes, and can be grown into unlike 250-300's. I don't think an R6 is the best choice, but they will work.
-
I started on an '08 gsxr600 with C mode for the first few weeks and then went onto A mode, and it's been fine for me. I did this to avoid the hassle and fees of selling a 250/300cc and then buying a 600cc. Well worth it.

I disagree. The power isn't the issue. Let's not forget a ninja 650,sv650, or FZ-07 have more torque early on and can accelerate to 60 mph just as fast even though they are beginner bikes. The ergonomics on an r6 or similar supersport machine are very aggressive which makes in-town riding much more difficult for a beginner and gives them more things to juggle while trying to go from point A to point B. Couple that with sharp brakes, rock hard suspension, peaky power delivery, sensitive handling and a beginner turns a simple task of learning to ride into a bit of a chore. It can be done but not recommended.

300's are fun but for a while then you want more same with 600's till you get to 1000 then you have all the power and fun.
-
600 is ok just a bit too much
-
I just got my first bike for $500. It's a 1991 Yamaha FZR 600 with 19k miles on it, so... Good luck to me.
-
just start an 500 or 600 but an budget / naked instead. with something like 70hp
-
Hate hate hate 😆
I started on a 1200—but it was a BMW, so not insanely fast. -
Since I am an European rider I started with the choice of any bike but limited on 48HP. After riding on that power level for 2 years I went unlimited and it was fine. even though during that time you always wished to have more power

i believe newbies should learn their lessons about self control on 300s . Any 300 is more than capable of telling you to respect the machine and your life. All newbies try to be stupid on their machines at some time or the other, and learning not to do it, or how to better handle situations and things. Just safer to do that on the 300s.

you are awesome
