New Bike & Motorcycle MAINTENANCE

Okay so I was raging a bit in this vid but its really been driving me nuts that people don't take care of their motorcycles. So far we have looked at a cbr 600 and two r6s and all of them have been in bad condition not old cosmetically but also mechanically. No matter if you bike is a zx6r, gsxr 600, R6, cbr 600, R1, zx10r, cbr 1000, gsxr 1000 or any bike you should not only give it overall tender loving care but mostly be a stickler on the oil. Reason being is that the oil is the blood and heart of your bike. Bad oil equals a trashed bike. I recommend full synthetic and change your filter every time you change your oil. Also as far as cosmetics go, don't leave your bike in the sun... Buy yourself a $50 bilt cover and cover it when your not riding. I leave my bike outside and the bilt cover is second best to a garage. Secondly at least every once in a while clean you bike. Not just the fairings but also all the grime and grossness on the rims and drive train. If you can't install something properly without making it look like it was done by a money get a professional to do it. Maybe I'm such a freak about taking care of bikes because my biggest influence is my brother in law who owns a Duacti 1199 Panigale R 2013 which is in pristine condition and he takes care of that thing just as he did all his other bikes. If you are looking to buy a bike I would not compromise on your standards or you may pay for it. Even if it takes looking and test riding 10 bikes. Purchasing a motorcycle is a pain when it's used if your trying to get one in good shape at a reasonable price but its worth it when after owning it for years you can look at it and say, "Ahhh, man I love this bike. Just as sexy as she was when she was new." For this entire video, I just wondered what kind of mic you use, and how it's so quiet in the helmet. haha
-
it really annoys me when people leave there blinker on. i know it's hard to see but make it a habit to check
-
hey man, i'm thinking of buying a pre-owned bike as my first bike. maybe an r6 or cbr600rr. i have zero knowledge about bikes and how to maintain the machine. i see old and newer models in the market both having high and low odometer readings. Is there any difference on the bike? what would you recommend in general?

the oil i buy is rated for 15000 miles. why would i change it every 4k? thats expensive, harmful to the enviernment and not any benifits for my bike. ill let it go 10k

i started on a 650cc

Find a bike owned by an old guy lol
-
My CBR1100XX is years old, 22k miles and Im the 3rd owner. Oil change=$47(full synthetic)+$16(oil filter)+20 minutes of my time.
-
3000 miles? I change mine every 3000km (2000miles)
-
when you refer to the forks issue in this video-that's a classic symptom of the seals being blown
-
But supersports yea you should use full synthetic cregslist people piss me off cause that have a 2 grand bike listed for 5 I'm like come on mam
-
4grand for a 03 you would have got ripped even if it's in good shape that's to much and it really depends on the bike on my 95 Vulcan 500 I used semi synthetic you don't have to use full synthetic oil on all bikes
-
Totally agreed about the maintenance. I've done two oil changes so far on my 2013 ZX-6R (bought it new in July) and am running a K&N filter with Royal Purple 10W40. Also do chain cleaning and lube every 500 miles or so and let my little girl help me keep her clean! =) Probably going to do another oil change tomorrow!

Just found your channel. Good to find another SoCal motovlogger.
-
hey man is it possible for you to do a video on how to buy a used sportbike? things to check for and can you do a demonstration? that would help us new riders a lot
-
Couldn't have said it any better man :) if you can't take care of it, then you probably shouldn't have it!
-
awesome video! :)

ive been looking for a dirtbike for like 4 months now and wtf is wrong with people, ive seen like 14 bikes now and they all locked like crap and ran like crap. like really its not that hard to do a oil change and clean the carb every now and then, and its not expensive especially on a 125.
-
So was the cbr an f4i or rr? Big difference!! Lol by the way you tricked me man, thought you sold the R6! Haha keep it up man ride safe, good luck with your friends bike (will he make a youtube channel?!)
-
For that price id expect the bike to look at least a bit decent with minimal flaws. But you know what its almost Christmas so everyone going to be trying to make money the fast way selling their stuff so just keep your hopes up!

I have owned 600cc supersports and after moving to a 1125 and a r1 i can honestly say that i can never go back, the type of power you get and how you get it makes it so much more enjoyable. Plus the 1125r sounds amazing being its a twin. :) now im not saying a r6 is bad "i used to own one" but once you get a bigger bike you wont want a 600 again.
