NYC’s Best & Worst Ways to Commute

What’s the best way to commute in NYC? We had five Queens residents take various modes of transportation, including Uber, a cab, the ferry, a bike, and the subway to see which one came out on top. why not have bike and transit together
-
I was betting between uber and taxi; the nyc taxi does need an app and a ride sharing alternative can greatly reduce the fare of uber (and the taxi too...).
-
The bike won by almost 15 mins, definitely better than the subway. Higher physical effort would be a good thing for people's health...

ebike.
-
I commute via e bike 9 miles a day from Manhattan to brooklyn and back via Williamsburg bridge
-
I have to go with bike on this especially during rush hour. I'll put up with sweating = get there early, a workout and you save so much a month = $116 for a monthly. yea
-
13 minute bike ride on average from home to work on a good day, a busy
heavy traffic is about 18 minutes at most in NYC. Also saving close to
$100+ on Metro Cards or commute expenses per month. Public transit can
vary harshly depending on the weather or what going on with the services
during that week. For example detour or rail construction etc. Just
having the ability to travel asap without waiting for them to arrive is
just something I enjoy. -
well thank god I've decided to choose subway at last and first of all I was thinking to commute with bike but then I was like nope. so but any who I'm a high school student and some of my teachers and teacher assistance actually takes bike, I would like to know some bike commuters out there some advices when commuting with bike. Well why? After I graduate high school and move on to my job or collage I was thinking to commute with bike for my health benefit and I want to stay in shape so.

What does it mean when "more physical effort" = "less desirable"?
-
This is why I don't live in NYC. 40 mins to work?

Please...somebody say something hilariously rude and offensive, pleeease! That face wrecked my brain and I can't think of anything. -
First of all i thought that this was buzzfeed and i thought those were kinda new workers :P

You forget safety! The bike seemed like the least safest option.

Uber is sooooooo much cheaper in San Francisco. Taxi's are more then 3x the price of Uber, that's a fact because I tested it multiple times. This could just be for San Francisco because I don't know much about anywhere else.
-
This isn't accurate. The subway is way faster than that, the bike could have just crossed one of the closer bridges and sailed down Manhattan instead of routing through Brooklyn. All of these methods seemed like the main problem was a lack of understanding newvyork traffic flow and directions. Bikes ultimately are the best, but subways provide a great alternative when the weather is occasionally bad.
-
Pretty sad that the bicycle could get there faster than all other means. Over-crowded cities suck.
I'm glad I live in a small city. My drive to work is 15 minutes on a bad day. -
This reminds me of that How I Met Your Mother episode
-
It looked like the subway wasn't that crowded for the test. It can get pretty horrible sometimes and that should probably be taken into account. I take the 456 line up and downtown each day for school and during rush hour it can get so crowded and delayed that you might need to wait for several trains to pass before you can even fit on one, and even then you are just cramming yourself into a moving underground sardine can. I've noticed that weather can make it even worse since I guess people who would have walked a short distance might decided to take the subway instead. If I had the money Uber would be the easy choice hands down.
