NEW YORK — An off-duty NYPD sergeant was filmed Monday pulling a gun on a bike messenger during a dispute after the cop pulled his car into a bike lane. The clip starts with the cop holding a revolver, as the messenger yells, “Put that away! Put that away! You’re on camera!” Messenger Dejuane Jones, 21, was arrested, accused of punching the off-duty cop’s side-view mirror, kicking his front bumper and threatening him with an ice pick. Aaron Lawrence, 22, who shot the video posted it on Facebook. Apparently, Jones and three other messengers were riding on W. 10th St. near Greenwich Ave. when the sergeant’s car almost hit one of them. Lawrence told the New York Daily News, “My friend kind of screamed at him as he’s riding off… He stops his car, and he’s getting out of the car. As soon as he gets out of the car, I see a gun in his hand.” According to Lawrence, the cop began yelling, “Get on the floor, get on the floor.” That’s when he said he started filming. The messengers said that he never said he was a cop and never pulled out a badge. At one point, the sergeant lowered his gun and waved the messengers off. Police say the off-duty cop then went into a restaurant to call 911 because he felt threatened. The sergeant was eventually allowed to drive away while Jones was arrested. When a Motorist pulls up draws a gun cop or not on a cyclist they are going to notify police pulling a gun on a cyclist is illegal and off duty cop or not. The off duty cop can be charged for assault, assault with a deadly weapon, etc at this time i would notify the SGT for investigation

what you didn't read or see was that the bike guy pulled out a knife on the sgt. and this coupled with him being with two other guys gave him enough to pull out his gun . people always put on the net what they want to be seen not everything

The victim gets arrested and the suspects gets let go just because he's a fucking cop, this is why Off Duty Officers should not be allowed to carry a weapon and if they do they should be required to have a CCW a bag does not rant extra rights...

as much a cyclists get on my nerves, being a responsible driver comes first and I have respect for them. He was doing a job, almost got ran over and had to change course hitting the mans mirror. My friend was hit riding her bike for sport, scary situation.

Those guys probably would have jumped the motorist had the motorist been unarmed. Instead he pulled a gun and instead of jumping him the bicyclist had to resort to cursing him out and intimidating him from a safe distance lol. Nobody got hurt and everybody made it home safely. Count your blessings bicyclists. Surely it wasn't meant for you to kick that man's ass lol.
