Pulled over for missing license plate, CA grace period for new bikes
bicycles reviews | bicycles videos | bicycles online
I was pulled over a couple of weeks after picking up my bike for not having a license plate, which I didn't have because I hadn't received it yet. I knew there's was 30-day grace period but what happens if your plate doesn't arrive within the 30 days? Well, a couple of weeks after being pulled over, I ran into a motorcycle police officer, so I figured I'd ask him as I was getting very nervous riding around without a plate. He said it's cool, just have your registration. Hope this helps someone else who's worrying about the legality of riding without a plate after the 30-day grace period is over.

Should have just gunned it and been gone.

That is the correct way law enforcement should behave and do there job. I appreciate the fact he stopped you and checked to make sure the bike was not stolen, then had the courtesy to tell you to ride safely.

What I think was unprofessional is the officer having a hamster like mouth full of nuts/seeds trying to talk and then spitting them out onto the ground during the traffic stop. The illegal u-turn just to slap it in your face..... If they weren't going to a call.
-
you were right being pissed that he made the u-turn, he should follow ALL laws when not code-3, which he obviously wasn't...just another cop thinking they are above the law, at least he let you off.

Dont you guys get temporary plates from the dealer? This is annoying!

Was this Los Angeles?

You can tell by the rear of the 'COPS" bike it wasn't a real cop. Rear has 2 amber leds lights & not red/blue.

my friend has a retired police bike like the last cops

biker cops in British Columbia.. Fully geared and scary looking... that cop on the bike looked like someones grandpa out for a nice cruise :P
-
Steve Jobs used to take advantage of this, I believe it was with a Mercedes S-Class. He would get a new one every 6 months.

Don't know if it's illegal out there (I'm UK ) but at 2:20 that cops spit's his gum out onto the street, over here you'd get a fixed penalty £80 for that... it's an offence, and either way, even if it's not illegal there, it's not very sociably considerate.

That police officer really reminds me of Tom Hanks lol :D

Here in Nevada, the dealer gives you a 30-day permit and it is your responsibility to go to the DMV and register your bike/vehicle.
-
Over here, the dealer needs to provide a paper plate, valid usually for upto 30 days.
Going to a tag agency, you can receive a tag within 1 to 3 business days. -
The second guy isnt a police officer LOL
-
How come you did not pull over on the freeway?
-
Dood that wasn't even a cop on the bike. He was one of those retired cops who rides around on his old cop bike, I hate those old guys
-
