Ride along with me on a bikeshare bicycle from Madison Square to 52nd Street and 11th Avenue, on my first long Citibike ride. I'm riding a Citibike bikeshare bicycle on the streets of New York City. Shot on June 12, 2013 with a Drift HD camera.

Interesting. They have those here in Chicago and I always wondered how they work
-
Drift cam HD.. Know I how I know, I have one lol
-
It really is about time NYC did this. Now they have to reduce the taxis and cars

Nice ride Rich, fun to watch full screen. You're a very alert biker. I saw that jogger (or guy running at pedestrian crossing) and you had to slam on brakes & react in a hurry. Clearly NYC has it's share of obstacles - do you notice yet the bike lanes getting more respect (recognition) than simply the "suggestion" that you alluded to on 8th avenue since you've been riding the CitiBike bike share? Do you have frequent 'run-ins' with near collisions?

Nice ride. I rode along 8th Avenue on the Citibike last Saturday.
-
They should've made these electric. Then more people would use them.
-
Not only are they periodically maintained, but there are people who drive around in trucks to reposition bikes during the day so that the stations with heavy demand have bikes available. (I haven't seen this yet in NYC, but I've seen it in DC which uses a very similar system.) The headquarters for the bikeshare system is in the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
-
I know it's still early, but are they periodically maintained and replaced/refurbished? Don't bikes break all the time, expecailly if they are used 24 hours?
-
excellent video! i'm really convinced on getting the annual membership.
-
Well, I use the Citibikes, and my own bike, and my Symba, and my motorcycle, and taxis, and sometimes even the subway. Everything has its place!
-
No, it's a Drift HD
-
Hey Rich. Hero 3?
-
Why bother? No bike security worries. No parking problems or fees. In fact no overheads. Only a $95 annual fee Or $9 daily fee (approx) No need to waist time and money at "The gym" Use the Symba on longer jaunts.
