Riding a bike in Japan PT 2
bicycles reviews | bicycles videos | bicycles online
Second installment of biking in Japan info......... Good site for bike shops and rentals in Tokyo: http://cycle-tokyo.cycling.jp/shops.html Nalsima Frend (sic) is a popular racing bike shop very near Shinjuku. They have a good range of top end frames and accessories, prices are good for Japan (although given current exchange rates it's cheaper to buy things in the US or Europe) and service is excellent. It can get crowded on weekends though. The shop is a 3 minute walk from Kita-Sando Station on the Tokyo Metro Fukutoshin Line, or a 9 minute walk from either Sendagaya Station (JR Sobu Line), Harajuku Station (JR Yamanote Line) or Kokuritsu-kyougijyo Station (Oedo Subway Line). All these lines run from Shinjuku. Address: 2-2-4 Sendagaya, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo 151-0051 Tel: 03-3405-9614 Hours: 1200 - 1930 (closed Wed. and Thu.) www.nalsimafrend.jp/ (Japanese only)

dude that lock is worthless it can be cut in 5 seconds, i think its not a big deal because japan is very safe but its the same to park it without a lock, check it out in youtube how easily that type of locks are cut off, you need a u lock or the foldable non-cable locks to feel safe
-
The cheapest bikes start from 18000 yen and that's cheaper than the medium quality bike prices in Bulgaria!
I forgot to mention it, but they come without the extras too :( -
i want one of those rear baskets
-
$200 thats pretty affordable

8:17 "And, yes, I do smoke... Cost a fortune to have 'em replace the wallpaper after I leave." bwahahahaha

Thanks for putting this video together. Riding a bike is now something I'll seriously think about when next in Japan. Cheers ;-)

out of curiousity how are u coping with the tsunami..........

@bitsurfer0101 There are some bike lanes... a lot actually... sometimes the roads get smaller and you have to share with cars, pedestrians and other bikes. My point is that if you commute by bike stay of the side walk. Bikes can be on the sidewalk but only at low speed.
-
they don't have bike lanes there?
-
WOW you need a ID to buy a cigarette but not for a beer.
-
@toddatron lol
-
you know your countries awesome when it has bicycle parking available lol
-
I'll bring my OnGuard Beast Chain that I use in Boston. Mine will be instantly the most bad-ass lock in the entire town for SURE
-
@Modonu I am sure you cant drive that on the walkway and if it doesn't have signal lights you will not get it on the road. I saw a home made electric car built on a golf cart frame it had a special blue plate I have never seen before.
-
@eldictator1 Haven't tried it but sure its possible:)
-
Can you pick up japanese chicks on your bike :)
-
@eldictator1 Yes! I think its a matter of survival here. I depend on my bike to go almost everywhere. I depend on the bike friendly culture now. If Japan was not bike friendly I would not have the lifestyle I have now.
-
The sign of how civilised and caring a nation is....How they treat their cyclists...Denmark and japan have always appealed to me

@Durken316 You have to be 20 to drink and smoke. The Smoke machines now require a smoking ID or Taspo card. The beer machines usually shut off at night and morning and are not located near schools.....usually. I suppose a kid could buy a beer if he wanted to but believe it or not its pretty rare for a kid to do that here . However I am sure some have done it. Kids also manage to get smokes just like kids do in the US.
-
@toddatron Just came across the Video while watching davids farm, whats the age for smoking and drinking there? and can just kids go to that vending machine late at night and buy 2 or 3?
