Well done for doing so much research on this, I'm buying a flat bar soooooon, BUT,,,,,,, culd you screenshot & edit comparisons together, rather than keep flicking between different web pages. Thanks :)

i am one person who can't switch to drop bars. I've tried and ended up back to my flat bar with bar ends. The bar end position is so much comfortable than the hoods on drop bars.
Flat bars tend to be wider and gives me more control of steering if i hit something. I've seen a thick branch twist the steering of my buddy while i managed to prevent it from twisting as a wider bar gives a stronger control due to torque.
lastly i just hate the brakes on drop bars, it feels so awkward when you cant by gripping near the end of the brake levers. -
Do you really need a road bike if you are not going to race or go fast?
MTB has much more traction and is more comfortable. And you will loose weight much the same as with any other bike. -
I'm looking at the fastroad slr about 1000.00. alloy with carbon on tiagra. does anyone have any opinion on this one?

Super video, thank you for your effort in making it, very helpful !

I have a specialized crux with drop bars . I put a stem riser raising them up most comfortable bike I have. I have a specialized roll comfort bike and the crux is more comfortable to ride.
-
Would it be cool when it's the opposite

I ride a Cannondale CAAD 8 and have a flat bar on it instead of the drop bar. I prefer it much better, it works for me. I am a much more confident cyclist having a flat bar. Great videos!

dude, luv the channel....

wish i would have seen this before i bought my anyroad bike. i would have bought a flat bar road bike

Great video! I've just bought a Giant FastRoad Comax 2 , awesome flatbar road bike!

I have several gravel bikes more than pure road with flat bars. I like having a slightly wider grip, bar ends of course for more hand positions, position the height inbetween the top and drops of a dropbar and usually put on a longer stem to stretch things out a little more like a road bike. Though not scientifically tested, it seems like I can get as aero as the drops on a dropbar if I position my hands close on either side of the stem and bend down a bit more but not nearly as much if it were a dropbar. Maybe not as comfortable though over a long time like that, especially on rough road.

I really like your review of trying to show the differences of bars. But on some point you stretch out to other advantages of fitness bikes. Like they would be more versatile. Maybe you can explain this in another video. Like why they are more versatile. Cause of tires? Are the frames more stable? What are the other differences. Would like to know more about that.

the Anyroad carbon frame had to be ridden to be believed. It has extra brakes which I find it very useful in the city when you need to stop suddenly while relaxing on the top handle. You can drop low if you're flexible to make yourself more aerodynamic if a true road bike look at you funny. And in red lights , sometimes you get off to stand out of your saddle, and the bar at your crotch doesn't bother you here. It is a great city bike. I find wider wheels gives me more confidence, therefore faster in parks , gravel, sidewalks where everything is not so smooth.

Well, it's been 2 years now that I'm considering buying a new road bike. I want something like a Specialized Allez Sport (let's hope the 2017 edition will have that sick new Sora groupset), and I have the budget. My problem is that I want to use it in part as a commuter but I'm too afraid of leaving it outside...

I really appreciate this video man. Videos on fitness bikes are hard to find.

That's $2,000

Which one do you think is the fastest. I think specialized sirrus is the fastest.

No cannondale quick carbon Wow😠

If I was overweight I would consider very wide tires. To protect the wheels so you don't bend the wheels on every bump when tire can't handle the weight. I would not ride 23C/25C. I weigh 60 kilos and even I can easily scrap my wheels on bumps. Took me 6 months before I had to replace my wheelset, riding 700x 25C. I would get a MTB with terrain tires. The only reason I bought a racing bike when I was 15 was because my MTBs gearing would not allow speeds over 50km/h (That was 20+ years ago btw).
Before buying a bike, I would go to the gym and riding a bike for a month, just to see if I like it.
