Ruby's Arms - Tom Waits

(See lyrics below.) While a video like this is not unique for me, It has been some time since I created one using a pop song. I needed to break out of the mold for bit for my own sanity. Tom Wait's voice is an acquired taste and I confess to not liking much of his work because his voice is so unusual but this piece and Broken Bicycles both spoke to me so I had to put my own "spin" on them. These are not created on a whim and many hours of detailed work goes into creating them. I search sometimes for days for appropriate photos and sometimes edit the photograph to fit my needs. Sometimes I even edit the music. In this case I put a softer fade into the brass introduction and I put more fade into the final chord. Otherwise the music is exactly as it was when I purchased it. I appreciate your viewing it and I always appreciate kind comments and thumbs up if you choose. I would particularly appreciate it if you should choose to share it on sites such as Face Book. I have created almost one-hundred different music videos (such as these) over the years and I hope you won't assume they are all like this one. Each is unique in it's own right. My video of Wait's "Broken Bicycles" can be seen here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0YroQxUyg6k lyrics for Ruby's Arms I will leave behind all of my clothes, I wore when I was with you, All I need's my railroad boots, And my leather jacket, As I say goodbye to ruby's arms, Although my heart is breaking, I will steal away out through your Blinds, for soon you will be waking. The morning light has washed your face, And everything is turning blue now, Hold on to your pillow case There's nothing I can do now, As I say goodbye to Ruby's arms, You'll find another soldier, And I swear to god by Christmas time, There'll be someone else to hold you. The only thing I'm taking is The scarf off of your clothesline, I'll hurry past your chest of drawers, And your broken wind chimes, As I say goodbye I'll say goodbye, Say goodbye to ruby's arms. I'll feel my way down the darkened hall, And out into the morning, The hobos at the freight yards, Have kept their fires burning, So Jesus Christ this god damn rain, Will someone put me on a train? I'll never kiss your lips again, Or break your heart, As I say goodbye I'll say goodbye, Say goodbye to Ruby's arms.

I do like Tom's voice and lyrics. Since I began listening to him about 3 years ago I have bought all of his cd's and was lucky enough to see him in concert
. I liked coffee until I had my first taste of espresso in Italy. I think it is the same with his music. I can't go back to the ordinary.. Thank you for this video. It is beautiful and actually made me cry. That has never happened. -

You video is very good but, I think that the lady (Ruby) has to be sleeping because she do not know what happen tomorrow meanwhile he was thinking and suffering all night about his resolution. Thanks

Tom Waits is a national treasure, what are you talking about? It's almost like you're apologizing for a great artist. What's up with that?

Thanks for the head's-up. I'll give that some serious thought. I appreciate your compliments and kind words, it gives my heart joy and if someone appreciate's that it's just that much better.

Awesome composition in all ways. I know Tom´s voice is very special, however his lyrics are, most of them, true poems. It would be really great if you could do something similar with his song "Tom Traubert´s Blues" one of my all time favourites. It is from one of his very first albums, "Small Change", and truly amazing. Voice is quite soft and string orchestra is outstanding... Thanks for uploading and sharing.
