http://www.youtube.com/bikemanforu First look at a vintage Schwinn Mark V Jaguar, with ape-hanger handlebars and many original parts. Free schipping on Schwinn S tires http:www.bikemanforu.com The bike, on permanent loan, is headed for a rehab. BikemanforU checks out the original Schwinn-approved white grips, internal horn in the tank, and the 1950s springer front end, as well as the factory-installed rack with all the red bulbs. The crank is bent and twisted. "We'll probably use the old sprocket but keep the old original pedals," says YouTube's how-to guru of bicycle repair. "Now, are you ready for the good stuff?" he asks. "This bicycle looks like a single speed but it's a two speed - high and low with automatic gearing in the back." The Jag has a Bendix automatic. "You're pedaling along and when you want to go into high, you coast for a second, click backwards and then go and it's in high gear. Get to a hill, click it backwards and you're in a low gear. Awesome." He shows us the brick pattern on the original Schwinn Westwind 26 x 1 3/4 S7 whitewall tires. Our S7 replacement tires don't have that brick pattern, but they're a lot less expensive, too. Check out our Schwinn playlist for more restoration tutorials on how to rehab or restore a collectible bike. http://bit.ly/Zg9zZK SonofA dates the Jag to 1961 and he may be right. Schwinn built these heavy duty cruisers in the USA between 1954 and 1965.
