Short little clip on some of the ways I get around riding a taller bike. I'll def. be doing a few more of these in the future.

I'm 5.7 (1.74 m) and I've got a full height Honda TransAlp XL650V. I only have problems when I'm off-road and riding on ridges where I can't touch the ground on either side if I stop. So I just don't stop on the contrary I speed up.

I'm 5'7 and I also find it easier both putting the bike on the side stand and taking it off when I'm not sitting on it. I generally hold the bike upright by holding both handlebars and the front break, put the side stand up, then swing my leg over the seat. Then the reverse for getting off.
When reversing I also find it much easier to get off the bike and walk it backwards. -
I'm 5'7 29 inch inseam and have rode older bikes ...first bike honda rebel 250 which I highly reccomend for beginners .. Then I moved to Yamaha 650 fzr 1982 I could flat foot both bikes ...then a 1982 suzuki gs 450 ... I can flat foot on it also ..I rode a friends ninja 650 and a friends cbrr ... Had to tippy toe and believe me tippy toeing ain't safe !! Especially on an up or down grade or traffic or a situation were you have to stop go stop go etc ... I'm short ( vertically challenged ) I get it and there's things I just can't do ...or wear ...or ride ...without making myself look shorter or stupid trying to dunk a basketball or risking my life tippy toeing on a machine that could tear my arm or leg off or kill me..
there are bikes and lowering kits that can help you get your dogs on the ground and by all means do just that flat foot your bike!!! Get over the vainity of what you look like or how cool you'll look on a crotch rocket ... You don't look cool tippy toeing .. Take it from a shorty like me it ain't safe !! Love ya keep the shinny side up. -
Buy parachute jump boots!!!! The promlem exists nomore!!!

I'm 5'7" and have a Katana 750 too, not as bad seat height wise as my '06 ZX636,, I'm literally on my tip toes with that!

iam interest to buy ninja 250 fi 2015 and i am only 5,5 foot
can i ride ninja 250 properly?? -
Would a cbr 600rr, be good for someone 5'2"?
-
And remember, the thinner the seat is, the easier it is for short riders to get their feet down.

i am only 5'2 :( but willing to buy KTM rc 200, should i buy ?
-
thank you! that helps a lot im 5'4 and thinning about getting an R6 whats your opinion on my height on the R6
-
I just looked up the seat height of a katana 750 and it said it was only 31.1 inch, my ninja 300 has a 30.9 seat height. I'm 5'8 and can sit on my ninja no problem, am I missing something??

There's more to the problem then just how to stay upright at a stop. There's times where you might needs to stop on a slant. And if you drop it can you pick it back up? Being short means you don't have the same leverage a taller person has. Seems like the safer option for anyone who's short would do better to get a cruising motorcycle or a scooter.

I have an 2013 r6 and am 5'9 inseam 30 inches. The r6 stands at a whopping 33.5" inches high, so I tippy toed for a month. Put some lowering links on it, lowered the bike two inches, can flat foot both sides. Will put the oem links back in once I feel comfortable with this bike. Yes, I have ridden bikes before, had three before this one. I'm really diggin this r6, but not a good starter bike. Low end not so fast, mid range will send you back in the seat. For anyone who is vertically challenged look into using lowering links, there's been a lot of crap talked about them. Forget all that stuff, ride what you want to ride, lower it to fit your needs. Don't let your height stop you from your dream bike.

Is he tippy tippy toeing it on BOTH sides or just one? I cant tell.

The Katana 750 has some nice options for lowering it. I run a T-Rex Racing lowering link at a 2" drop, but they can lower it by 4". I'm 5'7", so the 2" was enough for me, the 4" would probably work great for you. The link was only $30 and took only an hour to install. There are other lowering link, but T-Rex seemed to give the bast bang for your buck.

lowering kit/shorter shocks. so much easier than all that stuff.
