sounds like the difference between having kids Vs. not having kids
-
except for the heavy expense of 4 stroke engine rebuilds the 4 strokes are better for pokey people on the trails.

I've been missing the raw power of a 2 stroke recently due to moving onto a klx250sf but you're so right about the maintenance & pickiness. Maybe if ya don't worry about all that & ride it into the ground it's okay which is what we did as kids but now that I know what should be done, it's hard to think that way. I agree with you 100%

i have a wr 450, but i bet a 300exc will be a diffrent world compared to a yz 250...i am thinking of getting a 300.

Well then ride a fucking 4 stroke...........

2 Stroke is a labor of love. My KX 125 did great in the Vet class. ( pretty much an open 4 stroke class when you look down the starting gate) For me with 1/2 the power, It was balls out WFO - lovin life while the 4 strokers were riding on the bubble. Having a bike that requires skilled knowledge of set up & conditions is part of the race & the fun for me. Victory was so much sweeter racing against cookie cutter 450f's & riders with 20 yrs. experience with an underdog 2 stroker. I agree a 2 stroke closed coarse competition bike is not a wise choice for anything other than what it was designed for. A jet ski could get a similar hate review for Baja. The things I hate about 4 stroke is: The weight, They sound like a fart, Chicks dig the buzz vs. the bowels. & They have double the displacement & sandbag the 125 & 250 class, & regulation jammed them down our throat. Its pretty bad when the only rush & you get running the starting gate anymore is the sound 85 class. The thrill is gone....4 strokes lack the intensity & attendance at our MX club events show it by more than 1/2 since 4 strokes took over at the fastest track with the biggest jumps in our district. Which of coarse was reduced to jumps 1/2 their size to accomidate the majority which was the 4 stroke crowd. Easier is not always better.

the break in is easy!! people get to religious about it..just ride it smooth and it will be ok
-
2 smokes are annoying.
-
ur a fuken prinses not a bike.
-
ha ha so true its funny, but still love two strokes

Just nail the stroker now and then. Yes at really high altitude You will need to re-jet but it takes like 3 mins.
Fuel mixture does not matter. I have run my bike as lean as 20:1 and as rich as 60:1. Neither has made any difference in performance. -
4 strokes take way more maintenance, I have 2003 ec 200 and have never had to jet it or replace piston, it has had a good 100 hours since I have owned it. My bro has a KTM 250 4 stroke and has had to spend hundreds on it. his friend has the yz250f and had to rebuild the whole engine costing 1500$. this is all in the same time frame I have had my stroker.
Neither will race me. -
I have gasgas 200ec, done at least 100 hours and it still runs mint. Never had to jet it ever.

I love some of the nonsense comments in this video.
You have to open the garage door when running a 2 stroke, only a moron would run any engine in the garage without opening it.
He talks about maintenance not realizing 4 strokes are far more costly and complicated to maintain in the long run, anybody with any sort of mechanical skills knows that.
On the point that 2 strokes noise is not as good, I suppose that is a matter of opinion, However again 4 strokes have a far higher decibel output and there sounds carries much further than a 2 stroke. -
I have a KTM 150 and I just got a new 17 250xc and I could ride on a tank of gas which is 2.6 gallons I could ride for 2 and a half hours and the yz tank is a half a gallon smaller but a KTM 2 stroke there way better than yzs for offroad

If two stroke bikes had similar technology to current sleds I might think about owning one again, that being said they're so outdated I have no desire to ride one. I used to ride my CR250R at the dunes every weekend, enter the 4T I was getting stomped by stock 426s. first ride on one I was hooked. easier to ride= most average riders are faster on one. great video. I concur with all your points.

I have 2stroke ktm 250 supermoto an i love it

I love my 2 strokes for racing! But u do have a lot of valid points on the cons side. For your riding I see why u ride a 4. I ride both 4 stroke for enduro 2 for racing. I'm constantly working on the 2 stroke rebuilding every 2-4 weeks. I've heard this beta 300rr's are amazing enduro bikes. It just depends on your riding style. A 2 stroke is a king of ride right. Many people just don't know how to ride them. Made for high rpms and going hard with short piston life.
