I get what you're saying but I'm 6"6, most bikes don't fit me. The 600rr fit me okay and dual sports really fit me

What up bro ?
Shout out from redlands -
I started on an R6, but I also was being trained to do Amateur MotoGP. So I actually learned how to race first (of course after the basics) and it's not a terrible thing to start on an R6 but the caveat to that is I was in a relatively controlled environment (a track).
When I moved to riding on the streets I WAS TERRIFIED. In this scenario, I would have preferred to have had a smaller bike. It's a lot of things that happen that just aren't prepared for and because you can whip the smaller bike around it'll save you a bunch (but the power of the R6 also saved me from a few idiots that i'm not confident a smaller bike would have)
I think a good midway bike would definitely be an R3, Ninja 250, Cbr 250. I now have an R6, Katana (for them long rides) and am in the middle of purchasing a 250.
One thing I will disagree with Spence about is the boredom aspect of starting big. I took a YZ250f for a spin on the roads the other day AND HOLY SHIT I HAD A TON MORE FUN THAN I EVER HAD ON MY R6. The key to not getting bike fatigue is definitely switching up the style. The supermotos have so much low end torque, that when I ride them around campus I get so much out of it versus the bigger bikes. -
very fast, i started on a r6 and i havent had the need to change 10 years on.

Thank you for the info man I've been wondering if I should start on a R6 or a smaller bike but it's greatly appreciated man.

My first bike will be r6 year 2009+. I am not gonna try to sit on different 600cc bikes, i just have to like the sitting position on the r6.
R6 is the only 600cc i can look at every day and be like: ohhh, you are so beautiful and the love of my life! <3 -
What about going from a harley 883 to a sports bike, still start small and then 600 in terms of safety, appreciation, and all the elements you mentioned?

I had 3 r6s before my 15 r1, R6 was my first bike but a cheap one 2001 model . I got completely comfortable on an 600 before moving to a litre bike. I've never fallen off or dropped a bike, & rode motor cross when I was younger. It's all about the person and if your responsible enough to ride a bike capable off 170mph. My r6 was so much fun I miss it already

Lol i learned shifting on a 2005 R6 when i was 15. All My friends had R125 or KTM125 when i was 16 and i came to school with an R6 :D

I'm around 5'8 120lbs and new to riding, don't have much experience riding but I have gotten a feel for my friend's gsxr600 and ridden dirtbikes probably 4-5 times before. I'm good with manual cars and learned quickly on the dirtbikes and my friends gixxer, and I know how to control myself and be careful. Would you recommend this as a starter bike for me?

Turn your high beam off dick

Honestly choosing a R3 or R6 , I'm about 5'6 . Most likely will just get both in the future the smaller ones seem more fun though easier turns ect
