Street Traffic in Amsterdam: Bikes, Scooters, Cars, Trams and Walkers
bicycles reviews | bicycles videos | bicycles online
Organized chaos or an unscripted symphony? The traffic at this intersection in the Museum district of Amsterdam flows around obstacles like leaves on a stream. No signals, yet no honking, no yelling, and few disruptions. Related blog post: http://ladyfleur.wordpress.com/2011/09/19/amsterdam-the-ballet-of-traffic/

Guess you were enjoying a coffee at Pompa, then!

Nice, the motorist are in the bottom of the priority list here, pedestrians, cyclist and motor bikes have the higher priority on the road. Plus all motor vehicles are riding pretty dam slow. I would love to see this happen in the USA!

I don't exactly get what this video was made for or against. But pointing out people on bikes using a cell phone or eating? Do you realize how easy a bike is to maneuver/completely stop and have full 360 degree awareness around you? Never mind if you WERE to hit somebody it would be at a minimal speed that WOULD NOT cause more than minor scrapes and bruises. This corner is going along smoothly with every one paying attention to each other. They have a reason to pay attention and are at low risk considering the speed they go down to entering the intersection. Was this supposed to be showing a problem or just random footage? There is no problem here.

I thought I'd expalin you the basic priority rules: 1. Straight going traffic on the main road (road in the video) has right of way. That includes pedestrians (walking from left/right to right/left on the video), cyclists, cars, scooters, etc. 2. Turning traffic coming from the main road has to yield for ongoing traffic (named above ^), but has priority over traffic coming from the side roads. 3. Tram has priority over all other traffic.
