It feels to me that spending more than $2000 is simply a waste of money unless you are racing. Interestingly you have to spend at least that amount to get a half decent MTB.

Could have been a Planet-X and Ribble covered here as great value for money. Ribble can offer a carbon framed bike with full 105 for under £1,000 with change.

Am upgrding from my hybrid. I ride 30-40kms daily, 60+ on weekends, just completed my 1st 200BRM on my hybrid. Wanna know if the Specialized Allez Elite with it's 'relaxed race geometry' is ideal for long brevets(400,600kms). An endurance bike should to the trick but tried this model & it really 'zipped' compared to the giant defy. Defy was more comfy but looking for speed too as majority of the time i'l be riding 40-50kms.. Not planning any type of competitive cycling but definitely wanna cycle that'l respond when I stretch my legs.

Really like the Btwin :)

OMFG can you please do one that is like, less than 300? Jesus christ how rich do I have to be for this damn sport.

I bought a 400€ Bianchi SL with campagnolo veloce. It's quite old but it works very well. Just think buying second handed bikes, they are way cheaper and better than low cost new bikes.

I would love for test rides of various material bikes with different brands all with similar types of components with no names visible for the recreational user. Just let them ride the different bikes , each bike for 10-20 miles then let them rank best to worse. I wonder if the more expensive bikes would always win.

what about the caad8 105? it fits me at the bike shop
-
personally id look to get a Farley new pre owned bike. I ride a Cannondale CAAD 9 with 105 which i bought for £500 of eBay if i had more money to play with i could have found a truely fantastic bike

any videos on neilpryde road bikes

Really? A <£1000 test and there's a full harbon bike but you complain that it's only 10-speed rather than 11......?
-
In the US, if you get last years model and watch for specials one can buy a Fuji, full carbon, Shimano 105 for $1500. A better value than any you profiled...

Random choice of absolute junk

Which, if any, of these bikes are UK-only?
-
how does "11 speed groupset" allow you to "exploit the speed" again? lmao

as if the weld makes a difference.........

im happy to see Eastway get the top place in this list. I have the CX2.0 and i have absolutely loved it. for the money it was impossible for any major brand to beat the overall fit and finish with full 105 group. mine does have the 11 speed.. not sure why the R4 didnt.. oh well.
i have to say all the bikes tested looked pretty nice.. seems that the gaps are closing on the big brands vs. house brands. going to have to innovate more if they want to keep asking over 2 grand for something we see here at 1.
