Various of children ridding their bicycles with their parents after receiving them STORYLINE: The mayor of Bogota, Luis Eduardo Garzon, gave 10,000 bicycles away to poor children on Sunday, as part of his "Christmas without Indifference" campaign. Accompanied by parents and relatives, thousands of children headed to Simon Bolivar park to queue up and wait for the mayor's arrival. The aim of the event was to bring happiness to 10,000 children who have never before owned a bicycle. "This is the first time I have ever had a bicycle, so I'm very happy for that and I want to thank the mayor for making me, and so many other children, happy, " said David Alarcon, after receiving his bicycle. Mayor Garzon said it gave him great pleasure to see so many smiling children. "It is very nice to experience happiness at this event and to see all of these children happy," he said. Multinational companies, such as Carrefour, contributed to the "Christmas without Indifference" campaign by donating thousands of bicycles to the cause. After the event the thousands of children headed home on their new bicycles.
