This, this is how got myself crashed when some idiot car pass and side hook me
As I try to avoid hitting the rear of car (that already get in and about to collide with my bike)
I suddenly turn the handlebar to the right and end up going down to the left fast -
The failure here is the idea that one steers a bike to change direction. Fact is, when you lean, you change direction. The bike then adjusts to this new direction because of the trail in the front wheel.

0:41 XD
-
Easier to understand than some videos for the same concept on motorcycles.
-
FUCKING THANK YOU
-
uh... wut? I rarely counter-steer, all you do is lean into the turn. The only way you'd need to turn noticeably to the left to turn right is if you want to, or you can't use a bike properly
-
No, if you're pulling on the bike handle you're not leaning far enough into the turn. A proper turn requires very little input into the handlebars.
-
Thanks for the teaching
-
OMG! all these years i have been riding the wrong way.thanks for the video
-
Wait wait wait, i.. i do this, ehmm. Yeah i don't know how to ride a bike anymore
-
Over 13,000 people have never ridden a bike! What a load of BS this video is!
-
Me before watching vid: "Haha it'll be funny if you turn right to turn left and vice versa. So when I ride my bike, everyone turns right to turn right, but I'm the only one turning left to turn right. Obviously not tho."
Me watching vid. "Well damn. Guess I was 'right' (or left)" -
WTF?
-
I finally found a video to explain my friends countersteering, i tried to tell them that physics will always be right but they couldn't get rid of the fact that turning right actually means turning left
-
What. No.
-
its not just about the turn and the lean, when you start to take a turn, the part of the front wheel touching the ground moves backwards, the faster you are going when turning, say to the left, less pressure is needed to push the handle bars to the right, unless you want your turn to be very aggressive, a very hard push one way, will push the part of the front wheel touching the ground further back and put a much greater lean on you bike, only if you are going very slow do you turn the way you intended to go...
-
I never would have thought so many people were this passionate about how to turn a bike.
-
so complicated to make a turn in a bike.. the mofo that did this video is calling us all dumb..
-
This is not how I ride my bike...
-
For a motorbike, yes. I know because the first time I rode one, I went the wrong way and almost crashed. For a pedal bike, you might do this a little but you don't have too. You can just shift your weight.
