Subscribe to the Mpora channel Here - http://mpora.co/youtubechannel The bicycle is one of those things that’s just as enjoyable to use as it is pragmatic, which is why it’s endured the test of time so well. Of course, it’s also managed to stay around because it’s being constantly adapted and tweaked to make it for fit for purpose. The journey from the velocipede and the boneshaker to the modern day bike has certainly not been a quick one either, so here’s a short animated film of the progressive story to help you along with your riding history. The form of the racing road bike was developed in Europe in the 1930s, derailleurs and shifters were developed in the post war era by the French Simplex and later also by Italian company Campangnolo in the 1940s. The classic profile multi-gear road bike was being used in Europe commonly by the 1950's. Americans were a serious late comer to road bikes. Most serious bikers consider the Schwinn Varsity's best attribute is that it makes a nifty boat anchor.
