Schwinn Phocus review

I checked the specs and it's 23 lbs. You could probably make 17 lbs by simply switching out the handlebars. Nice bike! I think I'll go and pick one up this weekend.
-
That bike is no less than 27lb
Also the components are cheap and will not last. For $250 you could easily get a used trek or cannondale.
I think this review miss guides entry level cyclists. -
l have same schwin cycle
-
If that bike is 17 lbs I'm Santa Claus
-
Department Store bikes are junk.
-
Just got the bike
-
can you upgrade the shifters to a Shimano 501 and what type of speed is this bike
-
Wow...I see the bike snobs are here in full force! I would agree that I think you're a bit off on the weight, probably closer to 27lbs. I just bought a Schwinn Varsity Youth size which is a 17" frame for my 5'5" frame. :) Just came looking to see if anyone else is happy with this bike. Seems there's a few! My bike was regularly posted for $450 so def not bottom of the line at that price, but walked in the store to find a tag on it for $130!!! Yay for discontinued lines! Anyway, for those saying to buy used or that these "Walmart bikes" aren't good for anything. Not all of us are willing to shell out hundreds of dollars for something we are just getting into. We also may not have access to top of the line used road bikes (ie I was going to go to a police auction which I'd still have to drive 2 hrs to get to...out of 250 bikes there were maybe 10 road bikes. Guess how many were super cycle , Schwinn or ccm? All of them). If I find I like riding and do it enough I will upgrade....

ngl this bike is shit let's be honest
-
Sorry, this is a bottom level road bike, that probably weighs 2x what you think it does. It would be foolish to upgrade. It's for a teen or someone that only has a passing interest in cycling that may ride occasionally, but then I wouldn't recommend a road bike.
BTW, it's called a jockey wheel and few bottom jockey wheels are metal as there is no need for it.
Far better to buy a good used bike than a Wal Mart new one. -
its called a jockey wheel. Thanks GCN lol
-
it must be over 22 pounds...you are stronger than you think :)
-
bet the bike doesn't ride well now
-
I've never seen a metal jockey pulley in my life. Those plastic ones on the rear derailleur are pretty much the same ones that are on every other derailleur made for years on end.
-
It is 34.6 pounds.
-
is it fast?
-
does it have a quick release rear wheel
-
I can assure you that bike is not 17 lbs
-
This guy doesn't know a thing about what he's talking about. 17 pounds hahaha they would be like 30 for that price. Also the toe cages help with cadence and power but would upgrade to clipless. The thumb shifters are shit. I'll give him this though Schwinn bikes appear to be the best out of the Walmart bikes. Good for a commuter but not a competition bike.
