In “The Missing Connections in the Fight against Poverty,” Fiona McInally suggests that First World countries view poverty as a money issue instead of what it truly is: an experience of shame, hopelessness, and social isolation that can be alleviated through creating connection and changing the poverty experience itself. Fiona McInally is a working Mom of two middle schoolers and the advocacy co-chair for Women of Vision, Austin, a volunteer ministry of World Vision. She helps mobilize and unite women who are called to invest their time, intellect, compassion, creativity, and finances so impoverished women and children might find hope and love. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx

Way to go lady. Now lets all give up ice cream for at least a year. Or even better sodas! :)

That was excellent! I like how you reference the research and how you gave a practical tool for alleviating the problem.
