I have bar end shifters on my Thorn Nomad.
The advantage lies in the simplicity. There is a lot less to go wrong than with STI shifters and they are much cheaper to buy and maintain.
You can either index the rear Derailleur, or set it to friction by simply turning a Ring on the control lever spindle. -
lubricate your chain from the inside. Doing it from the outside forces more dirt into the naughty bits

With the name of the video, I expected this to be an expose about the hidden horrors of bicycling, and how the government/media complex has suppressed the truth in order to control us sheep.
Turns out it's just a pleasant little bit of sentiment. I can handle that. -
Dude this video is the bomb hey you should make more of these videos there inspiration

I don't about know the other commenters here but bicycles literally changed my life. It all started when I was a youngster about 10 years old, I wanted a bicycle so bad that i festered my mom and dad to buy me one after falling in love on learning to ride the neighbor's bike whom they rented by the hour. I was hooked after the first 10 minutes and I knew that I had to have one.But my mother, the Hypochondriac woman that she is and she didn't know any better, and since I'm her only son in my family and also the youngest, says NO...NO MATTER WHAT! One day my brother-in-law and I were passing a side street and we stumbled upon a bike shop...figuring that I wanted a bicycle so much that he bought me one! I was so elated but the news got to my parents in no time and boy you should have seen how my parents BERATED my brother-in-law for buying me one! "He's no good he's a Son of B@#$CH, What did you see in this A@#hole and why did ever you married him!?" they told my sister where I was living at the time. It was painful excruciating and endless and I really felt bad for my B.I.L. because he never deserved that kind of verbal abuse from my parents but he said he was expected this kind of treatment and to this day it's still a sour topic. My B.I.L. didn't know it at the time...but he changed my life forever all because of that 1 bicycle he bought for me. 35 years later, here I am as a Motorcyclist who traveled far and wide in 4 U.S.States + British Columbia CANADA 2X all the way from California where I live. Now I have 2 bicycles: one is a Torker U-district 49 inch. and the other one is a Fuji Cyclo-cross bike also a 49 inch. My B.I.L. passed away 3 years ago...and he's one of the very special people very dear to my heart That I will never forget as Iong as i live. Rest In Peace Al....We'll meet again soon. :)

Thanks for helping me to put some things into perspective regarding what bicycling has meant to me all these years. I suppose I've never stopped to think about why it has seemed to be such a central part of my way of thinking. I just rode.
