I always put the new or newer tire on the front.
-
hot water on the seized seatpost seems like horrible advice. The heat can compromise the glue holding everything together.
-
cleaning the bike... seems like its a weekly ordeal..... I keep mine dirty as all fuck. sept for the drive train, fork seal/stanction and bb. everything else is glazed over in dirt and oils

I think 2 of the hacks are really wrong:
* First, rotating the tires is useless. a less round, flat center ridge tire on the front (that you rotated from the rear) will not handle as nicely. just buy a new rear one and leave the front on the front! and why not buy a slightly larger rear? they don't have to be the same you know! if you run 23c in the front, put a 25c on the rear.
* Second, if you missed the time to change your chain, change it anyways! quality chainrings are expensive. as long as the teeth grooves aren't digging in towards the center, but only wearing along the circumference, the seated diameter doesn't change and you can still use it. chains are cheap (well, many of them are, or have cheaper versions), so just change your chain as soon as it comes to mind. I change mine once a year on average, a little less often as I grow older - and I've switched to stainless steel chains now, and I dip them in wax so dirt doesn't stick to them. more on https://fb.com/groups/recumbentsworld thanks for reading. -

Sometimes the tire of my bike doesn't align with the handlebars, how to fix that?
-
rotating tires on a bicycle is unsafe and ineffective! do not do it and do not patronize any shop that performs this "service"

11) Find alternatives for products. Many bike-specific lubricants, tools, and gear are quite pricey. I have learned to think of other things. Why spend a bunch of money on chain lube when a couple drops of 2-stroke oil works better, lasts longer, and comes in a $5 bottle that will last years? Why spend $100 on a single pannier when a pair of small backpacks, a bungee cord, a couple carabiners, and any flat, stiff material can become a nice full set of them with a bit of effort? If you truly want to save money, that's how you save hundreds.
