WHERE'S THE LOVE FOR THE SEND, GMBN... -
I have a cindercone!
-
wow bra of course the "first" mtb was born in the worst state ever. I'll never go back.
-
Do you think that the idea of shifting witout pedaling could be improved and used today?
-
Probably needed to split this list up between DH and XC. While DH has many big innovations, XC innovations were a little more subtle. Both deserve equal time.
-
Holy Cow that Yeti had a huge chain ring.
-
Completely by co-incidence, I've had a Zaskar and a Cindercone, but surprised not to see a Lefty on the list. Surely the 'Dale's finest should be on there somewhere?

foes fab?

You focused only on downhill MTB, really. Whereas there are many, many influential mountain bikes, this is really about a single branch on the MTB family tree. PS Pugsley and Pugsley. Also Pugsley. Plus the Pugsley. Just my interpretation of the Pugsley reality of mountain bike history. Also, Pugsley.

no fat chance yo eddy ?

I do like the video, but it is either more geared towards the UK market (which is totally fine, a video can really only be a product of it environment), I'm in Canada and a North American list would read quite differently, seeing as most of the styles of riding today originated here, or it is a large bit of revisionist history written by many who weren't present for much of this history.

Joe Breeze did not make the first mountain bike. I've talked to Joe, Charlie Kelly, and Gary Fisher all separately and everyone of them said that Craig Mitchell made the first mountain bike for CK. Charlie had Joe make him a frame about a year later because Craig's frame didn't work very well. Tom Ritchey was later brought in by Fisher and Kelly to make frames because Ritchey could make frames faster than Joe could. That said not all of the original "Mountain Bike" frames were made by Ritchey and quite a few were made by Tom Teasdale. Side note: Doug White (White Industry) was also making off road frames back in the mid seventies and let's just say they were unusual even for the day.

Proud to have owned a Zaskar

I have an 86 Peugeot Crazy Horse very similar to the 82 Stump Jumper. 80s MTBs and bullmoose bars rule!
-
is that Dave Hemming in the first GT LTS pic? If so, I think I was the next owner of that actual frame! I bought it from Stif in 1996.
-
You forgot about the Giant ATX ONE DH 1996.

This list is a joke. No Klein Attitude/Adroit? Yeti Ultimate? Merlin?
