Really cool I never knew these bikes existed. I use to have a 75 model trail 70 back when I was a kid. Burnt my leg many times on that exhaust lol

CT 70 was never a 2 stroke
-
Nice video but the original CT's were four stroke not two. The Gemini was the popular two stroke and it was by far the fastest of the 60's mini bikes. Kids in my price range didn't have either but I have a CT70 now and I have owned a few as an "adult" just got done riding around my property and still love it. My favorite thing to do when I got out of school as a kid was to ride my mini bike and I still love it. Thanks for the Video I'm looking for a clone, riding my originals is not so smart these days they are just worth to much $ and they are getting old. the 125 upgrade would be nice.

Thanks for this video! really nice. I am into low displacement motorcycles and mini trail. This one is a really decent clone. Here in the philippines and the rest of asia, china bikes flood the market. I own 3 of them, really good quality and saves me a lot of money, and hours and hours of priceless fun! Although there are mini bikes of 100 to 125 cc displacement here, NONE have the same look as the Honda mini trail. I would love to own one. Your bike has the classic look, it is simply a beautiful bike!

-
this is a joke and im just bustin your chops, but i did the math... 1gal every 4 weeks car VS. 3-4gal every 4 weeks on the bike... i think you were doing better for the environment in the car... lmao

Okay folks, it’s almost been 4 years now and I can honestly say
this bike is pretty solid.
Although about 2 weeks ago I pulled it out from winter storage, filled the
tank, and the gas was leaking from the fuel cock and from the carburetor bowl.
It’ll need new seals and a new needle assembly.
Took it to a nearby small engine repair shop that I had noticed months before.
I saw they worked on scooters, quads and dirt bikes (at least 20+ outside the
shop area, so they have lots of clients) so I thought I give them a try first.
First off, they loved the bike …more on this later.
Turns out, in the end, it will only cost around 50.00 to fix.
Now, I will explain a few things about why I bought this bike that I didn’t get
to say in the film.
Here’s what led up to me buying it.
I was looking for a 125 street style bike. Not a scooter and not a 250cc.
See, I used to have a few bikes back in the day.
I had a Suzuki GN125 and a Honda CM125.
These bikes looked like street bikes, not like enduro’s.
So the hunt began. I started with the majors Honda, Suzuki, etc… and none of them
had or made those style of bikes anymore, although …they did have 125 enduros …errr
not what I want.
Ran across the Skyteam (Jiangsu Sacin) model, did A LOT of research
on the company and found Trail Buddy as a North America distributor.
The Jiangsu Sacin Motorcycle Co. also makes street style bikes too, so you may ask …why that model?
I was looking around and I saw these and I had a flashback to my youth.
If you didn’t have one you knew someone who had one.
It was practically standard suburban issue along with Frampton Comes Alive.
Unfortunately, I didn’t have one …but I always wanted one.
The decals kind of reflect that feeling.
Unfortunately, Honda doesn’t make them anymore either or I promise you I
would have bought it from them ….but only if ….they up the cc’s to a 125 also.
Once I found out these models were 125 and not the 70 or 90cc’s that Honda once
made and even had a lot of upgrades even. I was sold.
I feel you need at least 125cc’s to keep ahead of, or stay up with, today’s
street traffic.
So yeah I had a childhood relapse of sorts.
The bike works great and it’s a great conversation piece.
I’ve taken it to a few bike night rallies and people absolutely love it …lots
of photographs.
I get thumbs up from all types of bikers when I’m out riding it.
It’s an all around fun bike …even when I’m not riding it.
Right now the only North America places I know of that sell this style are:
http://www.retrobikes.com/ct70/ct70.php (90cc & 110cc only)
http://gokartsusa.com/Mini-Trail-Dirt-Bikes.aspx (3 different 125 CT style models)
So back to the shop; they actually kept it on their showroom floor when it wasn't in the shop part of the building.
Everybody who came in loved it. -
the back light brackets i put the reflectors on..

Priced checked at Trail Buddy , as of April 2016, 1575 plus shipping. Only color available at this time is black. I'd go for a pristine original instead.

Good vid, but I just cannot trust the inconsistent quality of Chinese products in general. some of it is good enough, but a surprise is not what I'm looking for when it comes to transportation. I would go for the honda ST90 if someone wanted a bit more power and can afford that collectible bike made from 1972 to 1975. The ST90 is the CT70 with bit more motor.

I also have a clone and love it ! I turn mine into a drag racer I have all that is important to racing and have the fastest one around it's a 4/speed with a air shifter kit I made take a look , I have 12/video's on this bike with many modifications https://youtu.be/x7PsNGn5C2A

More of a question... now that you have owned it for a while and heard and read all the nay sayers opinions, what is your opinion of the little ct70 clone now that you have owned and rode it a while? Do you even still own it? My personal experience with the Chinese made motors is that they are every bit as tough as the Japanese with no oil leaks or oil consumption...completely contrary to what I read and heard before I bought Chinese. I would be interested in your long term review on the little dax copy!!

wo very good

Looking at getting the same bike from Trail Buddy. I live in Canada and it would be about a 3 hour drive each way. Any problems with shipping? Love the bike and thanks for putting together the video.

HONDA's have Always been far better than their Chinese clones! In 1972 I purchased mu first DAX (Original name of this bike) which was constructed for a 49cc or a 72 cc (Western-Europe and Japan). The frame is to weak for a 125cc engine. The Chinese overall problem is "weakness": metal, paint, chrome and all kinds of finish are all VERY poor quality. The HONDA's were strong, reliable and fast! The bike had drum brakes, that were very good for the bikes maximum speed of 60 km/hour.Only weak point in those days were the tires of Bridgestone, we replaced them with big Michelins. Now I drive a Chinese clone that has been upgraded with many Japanese elements. The Chinese gaerboxes are very bad...HONDA for ever.Frank

im 57 years old ,have owned and been around minitrails qas cts sl70s sl90s weve had the pit bikes and in general you can not compete with honda quality! pit bike trannys are fragile motors burn up in no time where a real honda runs forever with regular valve, time chain oil changes and the chink junk u cant identify them even to get the manufacturer. i just got a 92 ct 70 that was parked for 21 years i replaced all the lights blinkers air filters plug 12 volt battery it has 1,062 miles today the electronic ignition makes it run perfect!!! itll go over 55 m.p.h. ive done it,as the older ones went 45 m.p.h, im keeping it 100% honda stock a few extra lights a cup holder and i woudnt sell this bike for less than 4 grand and id get it too hondas got the quality the clones run til you lose a gear or it starts burning oil. great bike to buy for 250 bucks use it to fuck around on but dont spend no money on em youll be sorry!

Contrary to your intro, but the Honda CT70 was a four stroke. I spent a lot of time on them as a kid and have a 1970 model in my basement.
