If you're planning a tour around the county or state? You can get away on aluminum frame! But if you're planning to bike around the country steel frames are the best! They hold better and more durable..
-
Thanks for the video. Presumably, you still got the bike. How has it been performing? I mean after a year. Do still recommend it? I'm thinking of buying this bike.

Want this bike....

Thanks for the vids, keep it up! Do you have the 54cm 920 (I see the 2 cages)? I rode a 56 and it seemed just a tad too big but I'm afraid the 54 might be too small. I'm about 178cm.
-
Make sure you have a durable cage under the downtube. Mine snapped with a litre in it in under 100 km.
-
Did you consider any other bikes? I'm currently torn between the 920 and a Specialized AWOL Comp; not sure which way I will end up going.
-
amazing bike but...
tell us something about your shoes, they look soft and sporty. Cycling shoes are a bit of a dilemma for me, touring wise. Seriously what are these blue things you use, what brand? -
nice video! why did you chose the 920 and not the 520 that is less expensive? i have doubts about using hydraulic brakes in case of a long journey.. isn't it difficult to repair when you are in the middle of nowhere? I have a Trek Madone 4.7 2011 and a Trek Superfly 9.8 2014 and i would like to start with long trips around Catalonia, Spain, Europe... thanks for you comments!

Hi,
Great bike and video. I am currently living in Chiang Mai so it would be great to catch up when you get here. I am part of a large Vegan group here and we all are cyclists. Would love to see the bike as I am looking at getting a good touring bike and this new model from Trek looks great. Is it possible to put full length mudguards on this ? -
yes, super bike, I have about 1k miles on my 920 and I love it :-) enjoy your trip
-
Can you add fenders to the frame or not? I like the bike but when it rains I need fenders.

Nice bike! Your upcoming adventure sounds great. I like the wheel changes. Are those standard 700c wheels? How about a few more details on the red bag on the handlebars. Who makes that? I'm a commuter in California with the hopes of doing some touring one day.
