Truck vs Bike vs Red light.

ME: 1 TRUCK: 0 BIKE: KO If you would like to use this video, please contact me at ridinginblack@gmail.com FULL STORY: I was in the middle lane approaching the traffic lights at an intersection. I proceeded to slow down and was nearly stationary when the truck behind me ran the red light and rear-ended me. Upon initial impact, I fell to the left side but the truck continued travelling for about 200 metres before stopping. He claims he didn't see me and thought he had a blown tyre. @2:02:36 is when the lights turned orange. (97.2 m from the white line assuming he was going 70km/hr) @2:02:39 is when the lights turned red. (assuming it is a 3 second gap between a red light and a green light) @2:02:42 is when the arrow turned green for the right turn. TL;DR Got rear-ended by a truck who ran a red light. .

First mistake, merging way to close, second mistake, merging in the blind spot of a big rig, the rider is quite lucky he didn't turn himself into road pizza. Trust me when I say the majority of us truckers do not want to turn 4 wheelers and motorcycles into pizza, but play stupid games ya win stupid prizes

The way I see it everyone was running Amber and Red because these pricks are always in a hurry to go nowhere. Australian drivers are the most impatient and disrespectful on the planet.
-
count ya lucky stars on this one mate, you fukt up. Hope you learned a valuable lesson this day.
-
The light must have been turning yellow so the biker was going to stop. There was no way for the semi to stop that fast. That's why you should always look in your mirror before you make a fast stop like that.

I know this spot, the cam car is facing south on Pennant Hills Rd turning into Duffy ave Thornleigh NSW. Also the truck ran a red light, those lights change ages before the arrow goes up to make sure trucks stop before traffic turns. A couple of hundred concrete trucks turn down duffy ave every day thus the huge delay between one side going red and the other having the green arrow.

Looks like Caltex thornleigh pennant hills road. Anyway long story short truck driver ran a red big time regardless of having a temporary Australian in front of him. Plenty of faggot truckies out there.

No one is at fault here folks/ Every one is at fault. it's as hard one reallywas the truck following too close? or perhaps the bike should have looked in the view mirror and see what's behind and run the red traffic light, the car turning might as well say the bike saved my life as the truck would have ran the light anyways.
-
I've seen a few trucks run Red lights even when they have plenty of time to stop.

When you see the green turn arrow at eleven seconds into the video, go back 2 seconds and that is the start of the red for the truck, go back 2 more seconds and that is the start of the amber. That puts the truck at the seven second mark of the video when he got the amber, if not closer to the ten second mark. Not getting into who is right or wrong, just the facts.

It is really pointless to argue faults. When You're on the bike You have to see and think for everyone. Maybe the fault was trucker's but it could be your funeral. So next time choose wisely if You want to make a point or to make out alive. Simple as that.
One of the basic rules of riding in urban areas is not to brake in front or behind a car. Always go the the side so if someone doesn't brake he misses You.
One more thing, for the future

I don't think we are going to hear from that dude any time soon.

I find myself equally concerned that the camera car sat there for over 12 seconds on a green filter light without moving. Get of the fucking road !!
-
Truckers worst nightmare. I don't think your stopping a 65 ton truck with that bike, it would take another 1/2 block for that truck to stop.
-
Don't buy a lottery ticket. You just used all your luck !
-
After that the police should do something
-
If you ever ridden a motorbike you know u can stop 10x faster than cars. If you ever driven a truck you know u stop 10x slower than cars. Bike n truck = crash !
-
you fucking idiot! seeing stars? western stars? mirrors wanker,
-
Don't hit the brakes in front of a truck and expect him to stop.

Bike overtakes the Truck while approaching the lights.
Its pretty common sense not to overtake/change lanes when close to the lights..
Bike is on the truck driver's blind spot, even if he was standing while riding, truck driver wouldn't be able to see him cause of the high bonnet and little to no distance between the bike and truck while overtaking and stopping.
Trucks normally need 3 to 4 seconds AFTER they press the breaks to fully stop, so stopping at that red light might not be as easy as it seems, look at the load he's hauling. that's tonnes of weight and alot of momentum and it will take sometime to come to a complete stop.
you don't need to be a lawyer to know this folks, it's common sense.
I am done here. -
my god that is so scary for a rider, part of being a good bike rider is being aware of your surroundings, i was taught that riding in front of a truck is very very dangerous for that reason, simply put they just can't stop in time so that's something you must consider when choosing your road position, hope he is ok.
