UK Street Legal E-Bike 48v 500-800w li-ion Fatboy Design

Some additional notes for this design guys: I will add a camera on to the back of the frame underneath the batteries with a small screen on the front handlebars to act as a mirror to see following traffic stops having to shoulder glance all the time while in traffic. The wrack on the front and back of the bike i will aim to get to click on and off the bike, to provide for local riding and then a lighter off-roading layout. Wires running from and to the controller from the battery arrays on the back of the bike will likely be cable tied on to the outside of the bike frame, then likely taped over with black tape. I prefer a rear motor pushing the bike as 90% of the weight will sit on that hub motor like riding a monocycle, but a front hub motor could work here as well as it would distribute the weight nicely between the two wheels. I will source a wider more comfortable seat to sit on. I will aim to get a thick plastic casing to cover the rear batteries as it will be light weight and stop piercing of the cell packs. Nice. Many years ago i sold and serviced electric pedal assisted bikes and there were basically 3 versions. Mid engined (crank), rear hub engined and front hub engined. The type that had the most pleasent riding capabilities was the front hub engined. It also separated the power so that the rear wheel, especially the spokes and tire, didn't suffer from extra wear.
Because the front never delivers more power than was put into the rear wheel, the ride was smooth and confortable.
Mid crank motors are stable but still transfer all of the power to the rear wheel. Same goes for the rear hub motors. In the worst case, the spokes will have to be replaced with stronger ones and the wheel defenately needs chain tensioners.
One thing i remember about rear hub motors was that it was a nightmare to even replace tires on.
However, for offroad, a rear hub will defenately have my preference :-) The bike looks good by the way! -
