I've ridden for 35 years and I'm still alive. I like to say that there are laws and there are rules. Following the law may be legal, but it can very well get you killed. Following the rules may be less than legal but it will keep you alive. The law says you are a vehicle and have the same rights. That can get you killed. The RULE is don't fuck with the cars. I have a few more but you get the idea.

Anyone who rides their bike on a busy commuter street needs to consider castration. Absolutely the most cancerous thing on the road next to Ricers. I don't have a problem with designated lanes, even though I think they are a huge waste of money and sacrifice traffic flow for commune-like 'feels', but seriously dressing up and cycling at 30mph down a 55mph road just because you can? That's an asshole move. And sadly here in Texas, we have to treat cyclists as motor vehicles no matter where they are.

do not go on the road cos they will aim for u like it's a game cos they are that thick and arrogant in their cars
like everyone knows-bikes don't really mow ppl down did they!!!;) -
if you're under 13 do you still have to be on the road? my sister is 12 and she thinks she needs to be on the road but i think its really un-safe. Ive tried to search up the age limit but it comes up with nothing.

San Francisco has a network of bicycle dedicated streets. It's well worth checking the recommended streets to ride on before tracking across the city. This is especially true on the one way streets in the downtown area. For example Polk(two-way street) street is a pretty decent street to ride but Larkin or Hyde(parallel one-way streets) are terrible. I'm an avid cyclist but as a driver I'm left frustrated by cyclist who leave rush hour traffic unable to pass when the next street over has a bike lane. The best solution to make San Francisco more bike friendly is more dedicated bike routes. The more we as cyclist use these routes the more we will own and justify having been given those precious few extra inches of asphalt. The changes on Market street is the perfect example. For those old enough to remember cycling on Market street before it was converted to a more bike friendly street is a perfect reminder. Cyclist have the right to use any street in San Francisco. As we take ownership of our designated bicycle routes the more we can justify continued bicycle improvements on theses streets and lobby for more streets to become converted to bike friendly streets. The truth is streets with no cyclist makes it easier to drive. Let's use the streets we have won over to their fullest.
Eventually San Francisco may go so far as to actually putting bike lanes on the correct place on the road like the most progressive cities in Europe. A correctly designed multi vehicle street should have the bike lane between the parked cars and the side walk. Not between the parked cars and the driving lane.
Correct street design = SIDE WALK--BIKE LANE--PARKING LANE--MOTOR TRAFFIC
Incorrect street design = SIDE WALK-PARKING LANE-BIKE LANE-MORTOR TRAFFIC -
I do all this and I stilll get honked at Idk wtf I'm doing wrong

What the fuck is this?

riding on the streets can be a death trap for cyclists especially if it is a busy street. they should put segregated bike paths next to sidewalks so less cyclists get hit.

Anyone else think the black guy was naked at first?

Nice video girls and guys. I'm riding in Paris and I'm so sick of people who are not respecting the rules. And 99% of the time it does not help them to go faster. Like, for example, when they are stopping 2 meters after a red light and they have to stop because there's people crossing, they won't see when the light turns green, stupid AF. Anyway, good job here!

HOLY SHIT those BIKE LANES ARE BEAUTIFUL. in new york they are so freakishly tiny and full of potholes and very badly paved over.

ride on the street because it's safer for pedestrians? because fuck the cyclists, right? i don't know about sf, but in my city there are a lot of streets that are absolute death traps for cyclists. when was the last time you heard about someone being killed by a cyclist?

Cool it isnt illegal to ride on the side in my town in Florida. Also, I have one arm. How am I supposed to do all these signals?
Another question; what about wearing knees/elbows pads in the city? Do people use them because in china people do for regular commuting?
