Have ridden a D8 for 3 years....it is the best thing I've ever bought and changed my life. It comes everywhere with me. This looks like a real step forward from that and I particularly like the belt drive and hub gearing versus my own chain and derailleur.

Riding a bike is fun and good exercise.........walking, bicycles and mass transit will all be part of making cities livable.
Ride to school.........ride to work.........ride for fun...........
Bike to work day should be everyday..... employers needs to provide places to park and lock bicycles and encourage employees to ride a bicycle to work. Children should be riding a bike to school instead of being dropped off by their parents. Cities need to do more to provide safe walking and biking trails and paths that connect homes, schools and businesses. Speak up and ask for more bicycle paths in your community. Obesity is a growing problem around the world leading to an increase in heart disease, cancer and high blood pressure. Walking and biking can help improve health. -
Hi Peter, I know you are a serious Brompton fan, I use mine for mixed journeys when using buses and trains, however I am thinking of buying a Tern S8i for longer commutes, would this be a wise?
-
Peter, how stiff is the frame? Does it rattle and squeak during riding?
-
Great video Peter, can you tell me a little about the gears on this bike?

Thanks Peter for taking my comment earlier on and reviewing this bicycle! I was very curious about the features and how it rides. It looks like it's a pretty good ride for someone who doesn't have to do a lot of inter-modal commuting (I guess the Brompton is better for that sort of thing since it has a smaller fold). It really does have a lot of the features that I'd want in a commuter bike (less muss, less fuss), and already includes a rear luggage rack that can take normal sized panniers.
Two questions that might help potential buyers:
1. Is the heavier weight a problem? (say for someone who needs to carry it up a flight or two flights of stairs) Or would you recommend a different bicycle instead?
2. How does it do on hills compared to say something like the brompton since it's in a similar price range? (my commuting route to work is 6km and has a 5-minute 15-degree hill at the end.)
Thanks in advance! -
Brompton are overated nd expensive

Harley Davidson does use belt drive on their motorcycles. Its a great system because its low maintenance and less power is lost in the final drive when compared to a drive shaft.. A belt drive system never needs to be cleaned or lubed, but you do need to periodically check the tension. I would imagine on a bicycle you never need to worry about your pant leg getting dirty from the chain.
