Wow!! This Dude really knows Vintage Bikes ^^

Don't paint a frame except when you have to. So: don't paint it but do paint it.
-
So, if a bike have been repainted not only once, but twice before. How would you then be able to judge its value? To me the value would lie in making it nice for me to use instead of the retardation of paintjob it has now - even tho its close to one of the original shades.

i already salvaged an old CCM targa from the 70's. I restored it (with succes) to look exactly to what it looked ~30 years ago... Even if it lost some historical value, i was hook on the street by old peoples amazed on how my bike was in perfect condition, i was real proud of it. Sadly it burned into an house fire...total lost. RIP CCM Targa from the 70's!! D=

What the hell is wrong with this channel? I wanted to see how to repaint a bike! In stead I got a detailed explanation of when not paint your bike. Misleading garbage.

succes!!

"nothing you can do"??.. uh.. wood bleach ? I mean, you have to remove or neutralize the rust before painting anyway.
-
@aaronbassist146 what color is it now?
-
Okay, I have a 1972 Schwinn Varsity that I an rebuilding for myself as a modern road-bike. One of the things on the list is to repaint it. The paint isn't as catchy as I want it, and I have always dreamed of a green bike. Would the 'classiness' of the bike be affected in any way?
-
@FlandriaKid yeah, i understand and i mean if it's really as old as it is, i'm sure it was built to last.
-
@FlandriaKid but if you left the rust, it may not last muchlonger, however "original" it may be.
-
never rub down things like handlebars that will only damage it. put the handlebar and stem for two weeks in a mixture of one part molasses and one part water. you will be amazed at the result
-
this shows.. nothing.

At 1:10 is that an early sixties royce union?

thank you for mentioning "real" old bikes......the kind real people find everywhere that are rusty and need paint .bringing them back will fuel the old bike world more than searching out those beauties than are too expensive to ride ,but i will always be looking .....do you know how many frame manufact.'s there were in 1939 and who made what ?this is an area of great confusion to me(us)and any info would be appreciated
