http://www.youtube.com/bikemanforu Take a gander at the "before" condition of this vintage Schwinn Fair Lady. Free Shipping on bike parts, tires, tools, and cycle accessories, so you can make your old bike ride like new. In this bike check video, YouTube's how-to guru of bicycle repair shows off a battered ladies Schwinn with most, if not all, original components, made in the USA. Check out the unusual Bendix 2-speed shifter and the cast aluminum front rack that's perfect for holding a handbag. The steel frame with rusted chrome and green paint is headed to Sebastian, the cleaning maestro, where it will be thoroughly scrubbed before going into rehab for a tune-up, with new tires. The newly rehabbed bike, tuned up, polished, and loved, will be unveiled during the July 4th edition of the BikemanforU LIVE Show. weekend. Tune in Saturdays at 10am eastern this summer for the oddly compelling, strange universe of the Bike 'n' Kite shop. The show, featuring customers and anyone else who wanders in, is set in the Hamptons resort of Westhampton Beach, on Eastern Long Island's south shore. Binge watch alert - the show about life is raw and unedited. http://bit.ly/1ar9OWg

Bikemanforu can you possibly make a video with sebastian on how he washes bikes? They alway turn out so well and I'm sure everyone could benefit from some of his expertise! Thanks BMFU and good luck!

Make it a fixie :-)

No clue why since its a girls bike but damn I cant wait for July 4th now. I love Classic Schwinn bikes 70's and older. Really cant wait to see the finished product. But I was wondering with older bikes like this one with the rare parts like that Bendex shifter do you try to refinish them or more update them with newer tech? Just wondering cause I get that you want more people to ride and show us that it does not take a alot to get a bike in running order but also you light up with the classics 2

BIKE MAN, show us how to make the corrosion off.

Is That what the Girls rode when you was in school Bikeman ( Just Kidding ) It will be nice to see it cleaned up
-
That's going to be something to look forward to. Can't wait to see this grand old lady back in shape again.

Do you have a metal polishing kit Bikeman? I use the Eastwood basic kit and it rocks. The chrome on these old bikes is thick, you can lightly sand out most of those pits and then polish it right back up. You would be amazed that pieces you think are too far gone can be brought back to like new.

Schwinn Catalogs show this model offered from *around* 1959 to 1961. The Fair Lady name then took a 2 year hiatus and re-emerged in 1964 as the girls version of the Schwinn Stingray. * I say "around" because I cannot find a 1958 catalog.
