Vintage Japanese Bicycle (DMLTUT- 1).wmv
bicycles reviews | bicycles videos | bicycles online
There are many things I like about vintage bicycles. They are built to last a lifetime, simple and comfortable. In addition to these is the fact that they contain many items not found on current bicycles such as fender ornaments, revolving brass bells, celluloid grips, handlebar bades, rod brakes, enameled head badges, chromed crown forks, beaded edge tires, chrome tipped forks, chrome beaded edge rims, ornate fender stays, mud flaps, sprung leather saddles and enameled rear fender badges just to name a few. In other words, they don't make them like they used to. This is the first half of a two part series appropriately entiteld: "They don't make them like they used to". Outstanding with beauty and age.

Fantastic video of a beautiful machine. When I watched and listened to the relaxing music I got that pleasant tingly feeling over my scalp. Well done with the restoring.

I remember my years of stint in Japan during the early 90's, and i was introduced to these most amazing, most durable, non maintenance, all around city japanese bikes that were all over the city. I just rode my old bikes on a daily basis ...some were given, one was found in the dumpster...for years and years with no care at all, and yet those bikes were the meanest bikes i' ve ever had in my life. Wish i'd brought 1 vintage bike back home.
Fortunately, just 2 months ago I was able to buy a vintage 1981 Japanese Miyata hybrid cruiser from an FB online store that i really love. The bike sleeps inside the house because i just want to look at it everytime. lol -
Today bikes are like toys. These bikes back then were built just like a car.You jump on one of the bike today at your own risk. Because the break are not trustworthy. My dad and my uncle own a bike shop in the 1970s .And I remember a Robin Hood or a PHILLIPS bicycle were like a car.

I am so pleased to have stumbled onto your videos, I have been searching the web trying to find information on my amazing bike I recently purchased that is called "The Yuhi deluxe cycle" My plan is a full restoration and would love in advice/tips you have as to acquiring the proper parts. The bike is 90% just missing..lights, generator and a couple of badges. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Love, love love your videos and love of old things!

Love it....."Since man made it to the moon on vacum tubes and slide rules I we can make a phone that doesn't break from a 0.5m fall..."

Wonderful. Bicycles are an extention of your personality, so look forward to your videos. Take your time, in the end it will all pay-off. Good luck.

Thank you for all your help! It's much appreciated! I'll post some videos of my bike when I finish. It's going to be black, blue and copper with just a little bit of white accents. It won't be all Vintage like your beauty but it will have an old world feel of quality and beauty. I'll be spending quite a bit of time prepping, painting and plating the next few months :)

Though I am relatively young I absolutely agree with u about how society works...Everything I own seems to be out of date within a year or so the manufactures of the products would have me believe. Since man made it to the moon on vacum tubes and slide rules I we can make a phone that doesn't break from a 0.5m fall...

Fender ornaments are wonderful. Visit my site search Vintage Japanese Bicycles and on the left side there is an album with assorted fender ornaments.

Most people think "old" is no good. We live in a disposable society where things are no longer built-to-last. There was a time where things were simple and lasted a lifetime. Today things are made to catch the eye, but as is the case with old bicycles, the best things come in plain packages. Yes, as was the case with automobiles and hood ornaments, with bicycles the fender ornaments are a nice touch.
