Want to Start on a 600cc Motorcycle?
bicycles reviews | bicycles videos | bicycles online
What size motorcycle should the typical rider start on? The common answer seems to be the best one: depends on the rider. For most, like myself, a 250cc is a common starter/learner bike. A 250cc option is an attractive option for their low cost, cheap insurance, great gas mileage, and (present, but not overwhelming) power. Depending on the level of skill and experience, a rider may opt to start larger. If this is the rider's choice, I also point out some of the differences between a sport and supersport motorcycle.

I started on a cbr600f, 1 year in now and it has been fine, but I am 31 and have been driving for 14 years. I note that as it means I am very aware of how easily a road can go from feeling safe to something suddenly happening that you have to respond to so, while I do fully open the throttle sometimes, the first and most important point is to make sure I am staying safe and try to have a plan B for anything that could happen. Plus im concious I have good road experience but not bike experience which will hinder me in some situations. So its been fine for me but I think the road experience and age (road maturity!) has kept me out of trouble (not to say this makes me 100% safe still). Hope that helps.

start on whatever the fuck you want..... you will scoop up into the body bag the same from 250 to 1200

Im sure you can start on a 600... But you need to start in small steps, get used to the throttle and weight of the bike first... You're not gonna get on the bike and go full throttle... Those are the kind of people who crash. If you're responsible you'll be fine.

at lebanon we dont have that much laws for riding bikes, u just need to be 18+, so im 17 and im thinking about getting a cbr600rr 2006 and my mom doesnt agree with me, but i want it vey bad, and plus, at lebanon, laws are not so much applied, so i can buy it now, and ride it everywhere nearly, and i have never tried a bike before, after so much search on youtube and other stuf, i think its a good choice, do you?

I am 6"3 and I have rode a dirt bike a few times (so I know the basics) and I wanna know what should I start on.

I started on a 600 with no experience and did fine.

I looked at 250's and 300's and my trouble was being 6ft 2inc when i went to the dealerships and sat on one, even the other customers said it didn't look right and i looked uncomfortable and honestly felt it, by all means i would start on them but just to small. Cant wait to get my license this year.

Your right +UBCS Wraith It is all about maturity level. I took a riding course and they started me on a 125cc cruiser and then in 2 days I moved up to a 250cc. on 250cc its a forgiving bike if mistakes are made if the throttle is pressed to much or the clutch is let out to fast. When I ended up purchasing a bike it was a Brand new GSXR 750. I wanted to avoid re selling a bike after I got board of it, I did not want a 600cc sport and I did not want to have 1000cc so I got it right in the middle the 750cc. Lots of power and can be critical if mistakes are made this bike is not forgiving and maturity level is a big part of not pushing past the comfort levels. The first time I got on my 750cc i popped the clutch and the bike went up and landed down thankfully didn't fall over. Best advice I can give to anyone start off small it not always about being macho with more cc its about something thats logical and the safest learning method. And really when are you ever going to get a chance to open a 1000cc bike fully up. I have never opened my GSXR 750 fully. Awesome Video you made really great points for new riders

I'd like to start on a 600cc... But in Australia you have to be on a 250cc for 3 years :(

i had considered getting a 250 for a starter bike but everyone i know who rides are at 600cc and higher, and they everyone laughed at me and said no, get a 600, u will hate the 250!!! so now im lost in what to buy? either get laughed at and made fun of... or start on something i feel is too powerful. i just want to enjoy, something different than a car all the time, but at the same time i dont want everyone laughing... the choices...?

why waste ur time on a crappy 600cc bike the best thing to do if you want to get in to riding is to start on a busa and then sell it and get a turbobusa.

What helmet are you wearing?

One more thing. If you're a kid, say 16 to 20, and going to be riding with an adult most of the time then start with a 400cc up. I'm sorry but most people will get bored with a 250cc. Also, you can get a 650cc with ABS in some of the newer bikes and that gives you an extra level of protection.
Here's a list of all the 2014 motorcycles with ABS. I consider ABS important for everyone but even more so for young riders who aren't as sensitive to their surroundings. Even the more experienced do benefit from ABS.

250cc is too weak. Most dirtbikes are 250cc. I would never recommend a 250cc bike for anyone. Why? Because you'll want to sell it within a few months and most 250cc bikes have horrible resale value.
