Warming Up a 2 Stroke Dirt Bike

Support us on Patreon! https://www.patreon.com/dirtbikechannel In this video we talk about Warming Up a 2 Stroke Dirt Bike. This really isn't rocket science! If you let your 2 stroke idle to warm up, you end up doing nothing but filling up your power valve and pipe with a ton of goo. Start it up, and then take off keeping the RPMs low and staying off the pipe. Let the motor build up heat slowly and don't put a ton of load on the motor till its warm, but there is no reason to let it sit there and idle lie you would with a 4 stroke dirt bike. The funny thing about this method is it's the same thing both of the manuals to my different vehicles (cars) say too! They say to "take it easy" while the motor warms up, but that you shouldn't sit there and just let it idle to warm up because it take longer to warm up and just wastes fuel anyway. you tape the throttle wide open to the back fender and wait for flames to come out of the pipe then you are good to ride, in your truck to pick up some new parts.

I do a little bit of booth I let it set in my stand while I put my gear on real quick then take it easy until my bike gets warm
-
Do I keep the gas switch on the entire time I'm riding?
-
and i have always used 32 to 1 oil to fuel ratio never had a problem bur bike needs a good tune up

i have a YZ 125 2015 Model. it was run in by factory as per service manual. still ran it in as per service manual. im fussy so I'd open the fuel cock, rev it 2 or 3 times find compression then start it. some times it can take a few times. bike idles ruff use to let it idle ruff now choke on for ruffly 3mins with bike standing still. would go around the block two times till engine is really hot. feel the head anf radiator and once thats hot start holding it flat stick 😎 any advice please comment

I just fucking rip the rev back when I start
-
ok so I have a 2003 cr125 and I was always woundering how to fix all the black shit on my silencer whould it be the Jetting??is it something in the carborator? is that because of just letting it just idle?
-
I just let my blaster on the choke for 30 seconds shut the choke off and then ride slowly so I have been doing kinda like you
-
I agree but if you use synthetic oil the gumming up is almost non existente as compared to mineral oil or M50 the vegetable oil used in high performance 2 strokes back in the day
-
ignorantly sourced information . but your opinion is well worth my time
-
had to come back and note that 1.warm engine properly 2.ride slow engaging clutch lightly till warm. 3. shift through smoothly till tranny is warm. now go rip

how do I winterize my yz125 for the winter. I'm not sure what I would have to do to it being that it's a 2 stroke. any suggestions?
-
Do a video on how to winterize your bike
-
I always would turn on the choke and start it then give a couple small rev for about minute then I check and see if the air coming from the exhaust is warm then I let it rip

is that standard graphics and plastics for that model mate ? looks awesome ! 😊

I'm thinking about getting myself a bike. I've owned nothing but quads my whole life but I've always preferred a bike, so I wanna make the transition to the better side. I had a Raptor 600, but I'm only 5'9. Thinking of a 125 two stroke but I'm not too sure yet as I've dealt with mostly 4 strokes since I was maybe 3. Any suggestions?

I just rev it slightly in nutral to warm it up not hard revs but small blips and thats about it

Hi ... Just bought a 2001 kx125 for my son ..first 2 stroke I ever
owned ... has a custom exhaust on it and the rest not sure what it has
undergone ..its kinda flat on the start up but once its hits a certain
rpm it wakes up and runs like a raped ape ..thinking it may need to be
jetted ...any suggestions would be greatly appreciated ... thanks Steve -
I have a 2001 cr125, what had to oil ratio should I use ?

This is outstanding advice. I ride a 91 KX250 and use the same method - its also a way to let your body settle in with the bike. Love the channel !!
