What defines Dutch cycling?
bicycles reviews | bicycles videos | bicycles online
Cycling is similar all over the world... or is it? Even in utility cycling the Dutch have some cycling habits that are quite exceptional. What defines Dutch cycling? A lighthearted look at cycling in the Netherlands. A society will only develop habits like these when people do not have to worry about safety. The cycling Dutch are safe because of the excellent cycling infrastructure the country has to offer. More examples about that in the other videos on this channel.

How about bakfiets itself. I found it not much thing like that in other part of the world. Another one that I spotted, ladies in that share a ride pulling back office chair they have just bought home.

Nothing!
We drive on the bike like any other country.
There is also nothing special to Dutch bikes, only we have a lot of factories for bikes.
They wants you believe they are special bikes because they are Dutch.
Because they know or think Dutch bicycles has a good reputation in the rest of the world.
Maybe it was like that in the passed, but now not anymore. -

Wonder if they have bicycle cabs they have that in some cities and a lot of bike food delivery people also, I think it is great that they are a bicycle nation. I ride my bicycle up to 25 miles a day and know one person that rides he's 60 miles a day to and from work. He can eat anything he wants and never gains weight, that is 30 each way to and from!

you need cup holders and radios

What also defines Dutch cycling is that every Dutch has had a bike stolen at least once in their life, and has stolen one at least once if not more in their life aswell :P If you don't show you care for your bike by properly locking it, it's considered public property. Police will seriously laugh at you if you come in to report a stolen bike ^^

Is all of that typical Dutch? :O

I always thought that holding an umbrella while cycling was a bit silly, but I tried it on my commute to work (on a bicycle path, of course) and it is surprisingly effective at keeping off the rain!
