Despite declines in motor vehicle crash fatalities, pedestrian and bicycle injuries and fatalities have steadily increased since 2009. In 2012, more than 5,000 pedestrians and bicyclists across the U.S. were killed in crashes with motor vehicles. Ghost bikes are memorials, a white painted bike erected by those in the cycling community, that represent a life that was taken in a motor vehicle collision. When driving, please be aware of those you share the road with, and slow down. You may save a life.
