What Is Inside A Bike Freewheel/How Does It Work?
bicycles reviews | bicycles videos | bicycles online
Have you ever wondered what the inside of a bike free wheel looks like? What is inside of one? How they work? I take an old freewheel apart and show you the parts that are inside and talk about how it works. The freewheel is a 6 speed Shimano, but they all pretty much the same. If your freewheel is not working well, try cleaning and lubing it before taking it apart: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lVc1r2giqPc Check out my video on Freewheel Disassembly/Assembly where I show not only how to take it apart, but how to put it together again: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T_vRbBRPr3c **If the video was useful or interesting please give it a "thumbs up" and consider subscribing. -Website: http://www.RJTheBikeGuy.com -Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/RJTheBikeGuy -Subscribe Here: http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=shyflirt1 -YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/RJTheBikeGuy

I'm trying to make my own bicycle design using planetary gear set placed in the center of back wheel with freewheel. Do you have any advices?
-
Omg. I am not joking what I'm saying. I actually thought this. Their were a chain that is connected to a wheel that wheel has flaps that can go one way not the other. And there's a gear that the flaps go into the gear teeth that when you turn the peddle the chain moves the wheel that moves these flaps turning the cog but the gear is trying to push the flaps the other way but it can't so instead the flaps push the gear the way it's going then when you stop paddling the gear comes and pushes the flap forward and moves it. I am seriously not joking I thought that up with no help.

Great videos. I dare you to put it back together!

Great Video. I always wondered how these things work. Now i don't have to open one by myself. Thanks!

I have a freehub which occasionally fails to engage. I don't think it can be dismantled, but is there anything I can do? Submerge it in oil, spray in the gaps, or do I have to buy another?
Edit: No worries, I've found your relevant video. -
Pawls - that is correct.

im trying to figure out whats wrong with my bike after i noticed that many bearings fell out of the back wheel after i was peddling when i rode. upon trying to change gears the chain would slip and fall on the axel so i had to ride it like a fixie on the lowest gear. i have taken off my freewheel but am unable to remove the little cap covering the bearings given the entire inner portion spins while trying to unscrew it unlike yours, am i doing something wrong? thanks
-
oh ok. thanks buddy

i thought this was called a cassette?

Thanks for all videos :-) Can you tell me if I need grease or oil to freewheel? (sorry for my bad english).
-
thanks bro!

It's actually not that difficult to put back together. I did it twice in the last few days on an old bike. (First time to clean it, second time to swap out for some slightly better parts). You can use the bike grease as sort of a glue (you need to use it anyway), to stick the little bearings in place.

thanks! Great quality !

Is it possible to make a fixed gear from a freehweel??

Seemed like that part was working perfectly, both by the sound of it, and based off the way it looked before and after being taken apart.
