What's Up with Fat Bikes

There are a pile of fat bike videos on youtube, but I've not seen a single one that shows a rider cycling through fresh, deep snow. In every video cyclists are riding fat bikes on groomed trails or on downhill courses. I challenge fat bike enthusiasts and retailers to produce a video showing what these bikes are truly capable of doing. Can they carry a rider on city streets or across a field with a half foot or more of unpacked snow?

Endomorph's and Larry's on snow...now that's ballzy! I'm a 45NRTH VanHelga/Dillinger/Wrathchild kinda guy.

My boyfriend and I would love torent a couple of these. We could go out, find some beautiful winter scenery and take turns fucking each other in the asshole.
-
We even can do that in FRANCE Alps with E-FAT BIKES !

Riding a fat bike should be very cool on snow. Nice winter landscapes
-
Man, this looks like fun!
-
i would love to have one for winter riding when it snows here in North Carolina

I have unsuccessfully tried to find out just how deep of snow a fat bike can handle.I was thinking one with e-assist due to me being to weak for prolonged pedaling thru snow.I was thinking 4-8 inches of snow.Everything online is packed/groomed snow.
Anyone know or have some links? Appreciated.
Thanks Guys. -
Very COOL!

Do you guys not have to wear helmets out there?

I live in Upstate NY and was considering using one of these for my Winter commute - 10 miles round trip. What kind of speed do you average on actual pavement with one of these? Most of the winter the roads are generally plowed. Would this be worth it for a commute?

seems like a gimmick. Think I'll get a regular bike.

can fat bike makes you tired quickly? do you build muscle with fat bike? if you ride just on streets

Nice video, definitely a growing segment and quickly at that. One thing to note, please stay off the classical xc ski tracks! Really, i love seeing more people out enjoying the trails in winter, but sheesh..going out on my skis to carve out a nice fresh track one day after a fresh snow fall only to find it mangled the next day isn't cool, plenty of room to the sides, please be considerate ;-) At least until i have the funds for a fat bike, those things are 10x the price of decent xc skis, bunch of elitists i tell ya.

I like to ride fast, fat bikes aren't fast. That said I would like to go downhill with them, preferably on a ski resort!

There is no excuse to not try a fatbike even if it's a Walmart Mongoose Dolomite for $191. If you love it upgrade it or save for a model higher spec you can afford
-
Helmet anyone?
-
what do you think of the mongoose fat tire bikes? Are they ok for a guy that is 6 ft 300 lbs that has not rode a bike in 30 years?
-
fatbikes aka Snowbikes looks fun. can't wait to get my 2016 Specialized Fatboy SE

These bikes look like a fun ride as a 2nd bike. Too bad they're $1700 and up. At that price, you better love the hell out of them. Too rich for my blood, I can only afford one Mtn bike at a time. Sadly, the Mtn biking business has turned into the same thing as the ski business - over hyped and over priced. Still, I love the video(s) and can afford to watch those!
