When your not using the battery or if it runs dead, can it recharge by your pedaling?
-

Want to see great ebike kits and prices? After much research Luna Cycle out of California has amazing deals on solid kits and ebikes from mild to insane!

Riding w/o a helmet is irresponsible =)

No motor has yet proven as reliable and trouble free as the Bosch. Also, Bosch responds when you want it to and more important disengages when you stop pedaling. Dongles are available to speed above its 20mph cutoff, if you want that. $2500 you paid is great for getting the Bosch. Same motor is used on ten thousand dollar e- downhillers. So you chose well. Dont own it myself, but want to.

any relation to Joe Carcione - "the green grocer"?

The best electric bike to me is any of the Vintage Electric bikes

I have around 200 miles on mine now. Mine is home built conversion on a diamondback overdrive sport. That is a nice system your bike has. Torque and cadence sensing I believe. I have only a cadence sensor. I do this thing where I peddle just enough to engage the motor it looks like I am peddling. My wife says it looks like I am ghosting. My top speed is 34mph.

Great, so how big is the battery and how far can you go before recharge?

A mid drive system being more efficient is a very debatable topic. Direct drive hubs is all I use. You break a chain on a mid drive setup, and you are done. Break a chain on a DD hub and you can keep going. Gearing is only needed if you plan on not using it full time as an ebike. For peace of mind I still have gearing on my ebike, but honestly I haven't changed gears in about 5,000 miles, with maybe changing it ten times in 14,000 miles. I use 11t gear on the rear to get the most pedal ability at higher speeds. Mine does about 30 on a flat. Have an etrike building for a customer should be delivered this week and it does 60mph on a flat, yes 60. :) Weights 65lbs total. Amazing things are coming for EV transportation.
Battery integration shouldn't be on rear rack, it puts your weight too high. The triangle battery is preferred location. Let's stay away from calling it "cheating" as well. ;)
Modifying or building your own, is the only way you'll get every option you want. Of course I build custom ebikes and etrikes for people, and not everyone can do this. Thanks for getting more people aware of ebiking. :) -
