And contrary to what's shown in the video, make sure that the handle bars face passenger side of the vehicle, per Thule's instruction manual.

I looove the top rack but I'm short :( oh well I'm gunna buy a step stool
-
Thumbs up thank you for the video I made up my mind I will go with the hitch type

I bought the Thule 9009XT. It's a bit cumbersome to install. I asked my husband to do it for me. All that strap pulling and tightening is intimidating. THEN I find out I can't open the trunk. I was about to suffer from buyers remorse...but I think I'll keep it. A hitch on the car isn't an option and the roof rack...well, I'm one of those small people! lol I'm going to take the bike out tomorrow and see how it works out.

wow thank you great info

Will this rack work with a womans bike? I just bought this one last weekend and my son was trying to get my wifes bike on it and said it would not work? I am going to try when I get home, just wondering if anyone had any tips?

I think another major consideration is, what else you do with your car. Like if you pull a boat at other times, then I would go with a hitch rack. If you want to put skis on in winter, then I would say roof rack. Also you can use the roof for a box when traveling.
I had a hitch installed on one of my cars as I though I was going to pull a boat. I never did and found that I wasted money. Now I chose a roof mounted rack as I can use the rack for skis in winter. -
what kind of roof bike rack do you have on the civic? and where can i buy one like it?
-
I have a platform rack. Just far better than any other rack. Nice video here.

My hitch mounted bike has a pin that you can pull out so what it leans back so that you can open your hatch/trunk.
