Why I Ride A Single Speed Bicycle? Night Commute Bike Blogger
bicycles reviews | bicycles videos | bicycles online
Why I ride a single speed bicycle? I ride single speed bikes because... It is my preferred riding style, and less to think about. I like the clean bicycle look, and it is quiet. There are less things to go wrong, less components to tune and maintain. The ride is enjoyable especially when equipped with your favorite gear. It is a good way to train your muscles as well as learn to spin faster. I think everyone should have at least one single speed bicycle in their collection. Thanks for watching! you live in an unbelievably flat area. I use road bikes on all these hills in Kennesaw, GA and wonder if it's even useful in flat regions. I have been wondering what you all ride if you don't need gears.

Me thinks most here would prefer riding in a wheelchair.

All of this making it one of the funnest places to ride single speed.

Nyc is a exceptionally hard city to commute. Being a bunch of land masses connected by bridges and tunnels. Not to mention way more formidable hills than u would think. And for a "bike town" its streets are notoriously knarls.

I have a bike with an 50/34 crank and 9 in the back. That's more then enough for me. I'll probably buy like a 1 x 9 hybrid with no suspension fork or anything. When I ride I like to enjoy the scenery etc. There's no way I could ride a single speed here in upstate S.C. I guess it depends on how you want to ride and where you live tho.

bike with multispeed hubs are heavier to pedal. even if i put it in a lighter cog still to heavy. freewheel are lot smoother and lighter. i prefered to put 3 speed crank set and a single speed freewheel than using a freehub.

I'm a new subscriber. I've enjoyed your videos and your accessories that you buy has influenced me to get the same. I currently ride a 2015 Specialized Sirrus Hybrid Bicycle. I mostly used it to build endurance and muscle. I've had it for 2 years now and now the bike will show it's true colors. I've recently added Origin 8 Bar Ends showing its mountain bike side. I've added Shimano PD- M540 SPD Pedals which is great for trail riding, commuting, and road biking + I'm getting Kenda Kwick Track Tires which help you gain extra speed this is showing its roadside. I'm getting some Cascadia Fenders which will show it's touring apperance. my bike can handle any wide range of road, mountain, or hill.

I've been riding the "Schwinn 2 Speed Kick Back Hubs" since the late 1970's; I also enjoy the 3-speed Nexus.
Long live the fixie. -
where are all the people

Haha @ all these people commenting that you can't ride SS on hills. Umm OK... tons of people commute on SS where I live and we definitely have hills here. Like the video says, you just have to pedal harder... and you will get stronger as a result... maybe for people who are out of shape or do live in an extremely hilly area gears may be a necessity but for most riders they're more of a luxury feature.
