cops dont pull you over because they think you are endangering other people, they pull you over because they think other people are endangering themselves. when someone goes well above the speed limit, it can cause other people to react in certain ways. maybe some of those ways are totally unnecesary but they still do it. either way, its dangerous.

Exceeding the posted speed limit is still a crime, just because you don't believe in the truth doesn't make it any less true. Also, the speed limits are not determined by the average performance of the cars, they are determined average skill of the motorist and section of road. So if you drive your little bicycle at 70% of its capabilities, remember that little miss teenage princess ahead of you may get a text and suddenly cut across three lanes of traffic. How much distance do you cover in the blink of an eye at that speed?

There are no chase laws in some places for the cops for cars that are capable of crazy speeds and same goes for bikes cause they know they will get away so the cops try and get plates but that's the most they can do to ensure safety of other drivers they are not allowed to pursue.
